Note that this store has gotten my order wrong on multiple occasions via Uber Eats and DoorDash - I am not mad about being overcharged $1 or having items missing. I am more so mad that the worker tried to gaslight me over the phone and did not attempt to rectify an error that they clearly caused. I always place the same exact order from this store and choose a quantity of 2 (1 lamb platter + pita bread). This store has of habit of only giving me 1 pita bread instead of the 2 that I paid for so I decided to include the following note this time: “This is a double order. Please ensure that 2 pita breads are included. Thank you.”
This is the price breakdown: 1 lamb platter: $14.99 Add-on pita bread: $1.00 Total for 1 quantity: $15.99 Total for 2 quantity: $31.98 (My order)
The store proceeded to adjust my order to add an extra $1.00. I call the store and a guy tries to explain to me that I only paid for 1 pita bread and he added the extra dollar because I wrote in the note to include 2. I explained to him that I paid for 2 pitas and I only included the note to remind them because they seem to be forgetful. I even broke the math down to him and he proceeded to say that I should have added the pita bread twice (which isn’t even an option). I then explained that when you choose a quantity of 2 for an order, you are expected to include 2 of everything in that order. He then said that I only ordered a quantity of 2 lamb platters. We agreed that 2 lamb platters are $29.98. We also agreed that I paid $31.98 in total. I explained that if I paid for 1 pita, then why was I charged $31.98 instead of $30.98 🤔.
It is clear that I was charged for 2 pitas but he refused to see that or rectify it which leads me to believe that this is being purposely done to either save product or get more money. I would hope that it’s not a reading or math issue because if so, then they really shouldn’t be handling money or online orders. He also tried to tell me that there were service fees involved, which I was not disputing and had nothing to do with the set price on Uber eats. Please see the attached images for the price of 1 quantity vs 2 quantity of my order and my...
Read moreLet me start with this. We went to three different places before fate led us to Halal Grill on Springfield and Merrick in Queens and it was destiny. I had never tried this spot before but Queens was clearly keeping this gem a secret from me.
I am a variety girl. I am a condiments girl. I am a toppings queen. This place understood the assignment. I ordered the chicken and lamb over rice because why choose when you can have both. Not only does it come with salad but it also comes with fries. Salad and fries together is balance if you ask me. The tomato cucumber mix was seasoned to perfection. I had to add raw onions because texture is life and by the time I got home they had mellowed into the perfect kick. The pickles were amazing. I added extra cucumber salad and I told them to absolutely drown my bowl in white sauce. Did I pay extra for toppings. Yes. Was I mad about it. Absolutely not. Flavor is worth every penny and it was a little over a dollar extra.
Now here is the real plot twist. The burger. Do not you dare leave without ordering it. The gentleman at the counter told me people love their burgers because they are cooked over the char grill. He was not lying. This burger was a masterpiece. In a city full of flat top smash burgers this one took me right back to the backyard cookouts where family laughs, uncles man the grill, and everything feels good.
The bun was light but strong enough to hold juicy meat, cheese, onions, tomatoes and all the fixings. When I got home we absolutely demolished it. Silence at the table because we were too busy inhaling greatness.
The place was spotless. The staff were friendly. They handled my extra requests like pros. The food came out fast and the portions are no joke. I stretched that lamb and chicken plate into three meals which means you are really getting bang for your buck.
Will I be back. Of course. Maybe not tomorrow because I am still working on leftovers but Halal Grill definitely has a new fan. Highly recommend. And please for the love of food...
