Let me preface that my fiance and I go here all the time, she usually goes inside to the store and pick up the order after we order for pick up, today I decided to go for her.
Every time we have went we always pay in cash because they prefer the cash and they not do tax on the cash.
When we call for pick up we always tell them we will pay in cash, this time I did not expect anything differently but when I went they charged me the tax price even though I paid cash and they could not give me a proper reason why I was getting charge $48 instead of the normal $44.
So I come home tell my fiance and she calls the store and they said to her, it is because they already printed the receipt, she asked them how come they could not explain to me that in the store and they tell her “well i am telling you now” then when she told them we told you we will pay in cash she said “well I guess I heard wrong, my bad” and proceeds to hang up the phone.
She spoke to her in chinese so there was no language confusion.
But in reality, they did NOT print a receipt for me and when i asked, they told me in clear english that even if it was with cash it is still 48$. Clearly I need to speak chinese to get that discount because they lied to my fiance about what actually happened on the phone.
The food here is nothing above average, but personally it felt like an attack on me for not speaking in chinese to them because we have never had an issue when my fiance spoke in chinese. Meanwhile they speak above average english or at least the staff/owner who took my order did.
This was the first time I personally called and ordered and of course there is an issue.
Even if the food was TRULY AMAZING which it isnt this was a mistake that could have been corrected but the customer service to non asian people is truly disgusting and to add on the unnecessary lying. If they can lie about the cost of food they can lie about everything even the way they handle the food. There are plenty of other sushi places on Ave U and I was wrong to switch places.
I am writing this review in hopes they will understand that every one deserves the same type of treatment. We have gotten food here more times than we can count and I am extremely disappointment at the way the owner/staff have handled this situation.
I always thought this was a nice mom and pops store with their kids doing homework in the front but now I will look at this place very differently based on the way they treated me and my fiance.
I had thoughts of just telling them I do not want the food and what not but the money was paid and the food will go to waste. Maybe after this review, it wont happen again but it was unfortunate it had to happen in the first place, we truly did enjoy the service and food initially.
Edit: I see that people rated this place high in friendly staff and quick service; I am glad others are having a good experience, unfortunately I was not...
Read moreI ordered the 22 dollar platter. I told the person on the phone to remove ALL eel from the platter, and he charged me extra 2 dollars. When the food came the special roll had eel. I trusted him and thought there was no eel but when I looked closer at what was inside the special roll it was eel. Despite the fact I told him no eel. I have dietary restrictions restricting me from eating eel. What if someone was allergic to eel or not permitted to digest eel? I called back and told him of his mistake. He said “what you want me to do?” I didn’t want to order another roll as I was certain it would also contain eel due to their carelessness. Not only that he also insisted on me paying EXTRA 2 dollars, and that doesn’t include tip, tax, etc. Customer service horrible despite on the call the first time I said NO EEL AT ALL. If you cannot get an order right when it is repeated to you multiple times then why even be on the phone...
Read moreI have been going here so often they know my preferences by now. It's about time I give them a review! 😅 Their rice is just perfect for my taste. I absolutely love their Poké bowls and rolls because of it. I highly recommend them. My other recommendation for lunch is the pork katsu. It's well fried and really crunchy if that's your thing. My advice is to order via phone call or their site and pickup. Avoid GrubHub/Seamless so that you can get the best price without dealing with the massive fees. I love their food so much I even went out during that snow storm and there was ice everywhere.
They are absolutely nice people as well so...
