JOE & THE JUICE — Restaurant in New York

I hate writing not-so-good reviews. It started with them only able to take cash only. Okay...machines break. I get it. Fortunately, I did have some cash.

I ordered a juice and was then told they ran out of cucumbers. I get the carrot, apple, ginger instead, along with my Tunacado with Jalapeños.

The sandwich was all bread. Perhaps they ran out of tuna too. I don't know...there was so little tuna on it. Whatever... I'll just enjoy my Jalapeños and tomatoes that's on the sandwich. Maybe there was a Jalapeño shortage too because the server only put 4. :-/

NOW... here's the disgusting part. I get to the bottom of my juice and get something that feels weird come through the straw. It did not feel like pulp...IT WAS A FINGERNAIL!!! I was driving and when I picked it off my tongue on reflex I just threw it out the window. I was GAGGING!! I know I'm not going to die...it's just THE THOUGHT someone's FINGERNAIL was in my mouth. I'm still kinda traumatized. I was already almost home and couldn't turn back...especially since i threw the evidence out the window.

This was my FIRST EVER time at this place and I was excited after hearing so much about it. Definitely a fail for me. I'll try a different location in the DISTANT future.

Update: they emailed me and told me they know it wasn't a fingernail that it was just fruit. Sooooo... as you can see the low ratings from myself and others...

Walked into this location at promptly 7:32pm, I barely got one foot in the door before a guy in the dining room smugly yelled out “CLOSED”. I said “online it says you close at 8” he repeated, “CLOSED”. Then I said “you guys should see about changing the hours on Google because I went out of my way to get a juice here”.. he again, smugly said “CLOSED”. You guys could of very well been closed but the lack of basic human interaction is belittling. Are your customers not even worth a full sentence..? Especially when the door was unlocked & Google says this location closes at 8pm. The attitude was unnecessary and there’s too many juice bars in the city to be treated that way. I could’ve easily been the person to give you $100 tip just because. Kindness...

I recently visited this location with high hopes of enjoying a pick me up smoothie(my favorite) but unfortunately my experience at 1400 Madison was nothing short of a disappointment due to the severe lapses in food safety and quality control.

the unsettling image of having trash bags placed near working food stations is really worrying. How is this safe? this obviously raises serious concerns about hygiene and cross contamination. Secondly, while J&J offers a good variety of food items in all of their stores, it was disappointing to find that the portion sizes at this specific location were significantly smaller. what is going on on Madison Ave? As a customer, I expect to enjoy the food in a clean environment with the right portion sizes...
