I am not Nigerian. I’ve had jollof at other restaurants and at people’s homes. I’ve never had it taste like this. Very very VERY overpowering of what I believe is oregano or maybe thyme. It’s unpleasant, also the rice is a little hard. Wouldn’t be a big deal but that oregano taste is so foul nobody could eat it.
The chicken was okay. Pretty fresh but seasoning was just okay.
Entire meal was overpriced for what it was. Jollof and chicken dish should’ve been less for portion and taste. We didn’t get anything more intense, just wanted to try the basics first, and judging by the taste of the jollof, we will not be ordering here again.
We are genuinely disappointed. This jollof just tasted so bad because of that overpowering flavor. Delivery is getting expensive these days and we bit the bullet. I would not recommend delivery at all from Kayode just not worth the pricing even a little bit.
Also this meal felt like something we could make ourselves (recreate the flavors). I’ve never felt that of jollof because it always tasted so nuanced, smoky, flavorful, and intimidating to me. This tasted like tomato sauce and oregano and thyme. So so so much oregano/thyme.
I’m a little sus of these reviews after eating the food.
Alright we tried it the next day heated up, hoping the flavors have settled but damn. That oregano or possibly thyme taste is so damn overpowering it was truly nasty.
I really can’t express how genuinely unpleasant this rice tasted. The chicken also didn’t settle into the flavors, ended up still being bland.
EDIT: okay I had to edit the stars and add one because while I thought this meal didn’t taste great, I had an even more disappointing meal the next day making me rethink this one like hey I would rather eat this so it couldn’t have been...

Read moreMy first time trying Nigerian food and I had a great experience. The food was definitely made with heart and spirit, the flavors were delicious and the portions are filling! Of course before buying, I had questions for which type of food I should try and their customer service was super helpful and kind! I would like to thank and mention Topi whom I believe is also the cook there, she is absolutely the best and sweetest soul. She cared to help me and was patient with my indecisiveness as it was my first time ordering from here, she helped explain and educate me on what ingredients are used in their meals, I was very appreciative of that. She is truly a lovely hard working employee, her energy was so full of love! The service in this restaurant is bluntly shown for their customers and the efforts are seen! Overall, if you’re looking to try or enjoy the western kind of African food, my recommendation would 100% be to check...
