Rainy days call for buffets, so I pulled up to Kaijin Seafood Buffet, located at 691 Coop City Blvd G, Bronx, NY. This new seafood buffet is already making some noise. The energy inside feels like a little food adventure waiting to happen. I let my appetite clock in and here’s what went down… Plate 1: The Protein Plate I started simple. Wings, calamari, shrimp tempura, and BBQ chicken. A clean mix of flavors that set the tone right away. The shrimp tempura had that light, crispy coating and the wings held it down like always. Those wings were huge and so damn good. Plate 2: The Carb & Seafood Combo Lo mein, veggie fried rice, catfish, grilled prawns, crispy shrimp, and short rib. This was the plate that let me know this place is not playing. Texture, flavor, variety…everything on here slapped at the same time. Plate 3: Sushi Run Fresh rolls to reset the palate and slow things down before dessert. Simple, solid, and exactly what a buffet sushi plate should be. Plate 4: Dessert Victory Lap Chocolate cake and lemon cake for the sweet finish. Light, fluffy, and the perfect cooldown after going in. Bonus Moment: Trying Something New Since it is a buffet, I stepped out of my comfort zone and tried fried frog legs for the first time. And listen…I can confidently say I’ll probably never eat that again 😭. But that’s the beauty of a buffet. You get to taste new things, explore, and figure out what’s really for you. Five plates and a take-home tray later…Kaijin is off to a strong start. Fresh variety, good service, and definitely a spot the Bronx needed. And before I forget there was a lobster dish that people were LITERALLY lining up for…the tray hit the table and it was gone in seconds. I gots to get back to try that!
