La Rondine Pizza — Restaurant in New York

Not sure how I feel about this place. They didn’t have one of the pizzas I ordered online so they called to tell me and see if I wanted a replacement. I appreciated them doing that. I chose a pizza that cost less, I thought they might throw in something extra to make up for that, like a drink or something but they didn’t. That’s fine, no big deal. Thats not what really irritated me. Someone called to say the delivery would be here in a few minutes, thats all. They put in my code for me to buzz them in, I open my door after 2 minutes expecting to see the order at my door (im on the first floor). 5 minutes pass and still nothing, I go to my lobby and see my food sitting there. Not cool at all! No one ever told me that i needed to meet the delivery person. I order take out all the time from multiple sites and they always come to my door. If someone has a health issue or valid reason why they can’t come to a customers door thats one thing, but theres no other excuse. I tipped in advance on an app and then had to walk out and get my food from the lobby where anyone (or thing) could’ve tampered with or taken it. I’m not tipping for them to drive the food to my address, thats their job and what their employer pays them for, I tip for them to bring it to my door! Update: First, let me share that they have significantly improved their delivery times. Now let me share why I felt I needed to update my review ... when we want pizza, La Rondine is the ONLY place we'll order from. They consistently put out great pizza. We've tried both the regular and the Sicilian ... the crust is delicious, sauce is perfect, and ingredients are always good. We've also tried their mozzarella sticks, and the Caesar salad which are both also great. Last night I tried the fettuccini alfredo for the first time ... OMG! Absolutely amazing! Mind you, I'm not a foodie or some self proclaimed expert on Italian food ... I just really enjoy a good fettuccini alfredo. I got the BEST fettuccini alfredo last night!! Plenty of flavorful sauce ... nice and garlicy with wonderful hints of herbs. Absolutely delish and the portion size was huge!!! My compliments to the chef :)

Worst service! I placed an order for delivery and was told the driver would be arriving in 1 min. 10min passed as I waited from my apartment for the driver to arrive and call once in the lobby. He calls me and says “if you’re not coming we’ll cancel the order”. I asked if he was here and he hung up on me and refused to take my return calls.

My partner who lives with me has cancer and was not feeling well. For me to leave her unattended for any length of time could be dangerous. The driver couldn’t wait the 1 min for me to get on the elevator and down to the lobby.

I called the restaurant and the manager was extremely combative. Explaining how busy they were. When the fact is I paid them for a service which was not rendered and non-conforming.

After explaining my partners illness he then said I could walk to the restaurant and pick it up. I couldn’t tell if he was being sarcastic or just that stupid.

If you’re not equipped to fulfill your service obligations to your patrons that is on you. It is not my responsibility as the consumer to accommodate you.
