Read moreOverall the experience was very good. I got there around 1:30, and stayed until after 5:00. The primary reason I came here was to meet a friend and to sit outside. Unfortunately, the beer garden outside only opens at 4:00 p.m. no matter how much of a nice day it is, if you want to sit out there earlier, too bad. And they're very strict about it. I even peaked out the door to take a picture and I got yelled at! I guess it depends what waitress you get, because besides the one gruff one who follows the rules, the rest of the waitresses were very nice. Some of them were fairly new, so they didn't really know what they're doing yet. But they were very nice. The food wasn't mixed bag. The pizza we had was phenomenal. But very small. For the price $15 I think a little on the high side. But it was really good. We ordered another one. The onion soup was a little sweet. And be careful, it comes out very hot. I still can't feel my tongue and I was careful, but not careful enough. The chicken tenders were pretty much as expected, french fries were better than average, but the chicken wings were really tiny. I mean, tiny! I got the habanero sauce and it was very good. But the wings were dry and did I mention tiny? I think the highlight of the beer garden experience is the giant ping pong table. Which can be very annoying if someone else is using it. But if you're using it it's a professional table and the ping pong ball that they give you (you have to ask for it) was also a three-star professional ping pong ball. None of that cheap stuff. There's a few other games they have as well, giant Jenga in a small hook the loop game. They also have a connect four game. Beer is available by the picture or by the glass. They have some premium beers, but the trick is to get there at happy hour between 4:00 and 7:00 when you could sit outside, enjoy the games, get half price appetizers and $6 beers. It's very pleasant open area in the back, a little quirky which is great, and it's a lot of fun. The tables are big long Octoberfest style tables, so bank a big crowd or meet your neighbors. Either way you'll have...
Read moreCame here last night to watch the Knick game with group of friends and the experience was abysmal, if I’m being honest. Despite the fact that every individual in my party ordered food and drinks, my server was passive aggressive with us the entire night. At one point she tried to get us to order additional beverages and when several people at my table asked for tap water, she sarcastically goes “I meant ALCOHOLIC beverages?” I thought that was a little strange comment to make, I get you want us to run the bill up even more, but we didn’t think too much of it at the time. Once the bill came, she immediately kept poking her head around to see if we were ready to put the card in, and the faces she was making felt to me like she was insinuating we weren’t gonna be able to cover our bill. It’s a party of seven, of course it was gonna take a minute for everybody to calculate who owes what and who has to send money to who.
Anyway, when we finally get put the card in, we get it back with the receipt and it’s the same thing. She’s immediately rushing us asking if we’re done calculating the tip, so once again I have to ask her to give us a minute. To be quite frank, we weren’t happy with the service overall and the tip reflected that. Was it a great tip, no. Was it an insultingly low tip? Also no. But she took a look at the receipt with the tip that we wrote in, clicked her teeth, rolled her eyes and walked away. My friend saw her going around the restaurant with our receipt and showing it to her coworkers, as if to make us feel bad for not giving her the tip that she expected. And then to add insult to injury, she comes back around as we’re getting up and collecting our things to rush us out of there saying “I need this table.” Gratuity is a reflection of the quality of service. I manage a coffee shop and know a thing or two about that, and the service we received at Cobblestones last was not only disappointing, it was unprofessional and completely unacceptable. Never coming back here again and wouldn’t...
