I usually do not make reviews unless I think it’s worth taking time to applaud and praise a business or warn others from terrible experience. Unfortunately in this case it’s the latter, I recently was working near this facility and on my lunch I decided to look up nearby facilities that can deliver a worthy & delicious meal as I had been working for over 12 hours. I ordered my white quarter chicken meal with 2 sides from La Rosa chicken & grill at exactly 6:32pm and paid for it over the phone. The restaurant is located 7 mins from my work site so I figure it will be fairly fast anywhere from 20 to maybe 30 mins worst case 45 mins delivery. After 45 mins went by with no call from the store I decided to call them to check the order status, the gentleman told me on the phone that the driver left and should be there within 15 mins as they’re busy so I I said ok that’s fine. I waited 45 mins I can wait another 15 mins. Now after 30 mins extra went by I called again and this time a lady answered and she said the driver just left and that it should be there in 7mins so I was confused and told her well the other guy said the deliver driver had left already so what’s actually going on, at this point I lost my patience so I asked to call the driver and give me the exact ETA & so I was told 7 mins so I decided to wait another 7 mins or so. After 10 mins went by I called again and spoke to the earlier gentleman and he said that the driver will be there in 7 mins so I lost my patience so I asked him to just refund the money as I could’ve went somewhere to eat and order somewhere else and it would’ve been here and he has the nerve to tell me that I got to wait until the manager gets to the store to then refund me so he said the driver is already on the way might as well wait & would be there shortly so now not only I didn’t get my food not my money. I told him no I am not waiting just cancel my order so after waiting some time to perhaps miraculously see this driver with food nothing happened so I decided to to call him back with update on the manager and he said he hasn’t came in yet and I asked him out of curiosity so what happened to the food and he said that he called the driver to cancel which I think was a lie and this whole thing started with lies and false promises. I then decided to drive there to get my money back in person as we weren’t getting anywhere with the phone convos. In food business or customer service dealing with deliveries businesses should always add the extra time to their regular delivery time especially when rush hour hits but mostly communicate that delivery time with customer so at worst they’ll get it at the time you expected and at best they’ll get it earlier which will not only make the hungry customer feel valued but also will improve and give them a chance to return again as a customer. I would not suggest this place to anyone when delivery unfortunately I didn’t get the opportunity to try their food to determine its quality so I highly suggest you go in person but from the look of the food when I walked the quality...
Read moreNote: I’ve passed this place many times. This was my first time giving it a try, as the bus stop is right outside and I had a 13 minute wait. I only ordered one thing: the roasted chicken. You know, those rotisserie chickens you see rotating in the window of your typical Spanish food restaurant. One thing I’ve learned though: All the chickens rotating in the window of any restaurant look good, but not all taste the same or as good as they look. Such was the case with La Rosa. My two stars is based primarily on the taste (or lack thereof) of the roasted half-chicken I ordered: Lackluster, dry and bland. Only seasoning to be tasted was on skin, did not penetrate down to the meat. I ate at home with a bottle of Texas Pete’s hot sauce by my side to add much needed flavor and the illusion of juiciness. The price is on the high side (a little under $11 with sales tax), but I wouldn’t have minded if the chicken tasted wonderful. It doesn’t taste wonderful and I won’t ever order it again; basically, I’ve enjoyed rotisserie chickens from the supermarket more—at half the price with twice the flavor. While waiting to receive my food, I did see a worker dropping some freshly breaded tenders and those did look like they might be something to come back and try. But only the tenders, as I rely a lot on visual cues when trying food items for the first time. A cursory once over told me that the sides weren’t siding. Also, be mindful if you’re only ordering a la carte: I specifically requested “roasted half chicken” and did not ask for a meal, so when the worker asked “What are your two sides?” although I found the sides visually uninspiring, I prepared to select two, but then I asked “Are the sides included?” The sides are not included. I don’t think it was an intentional sneaky upsell, but just make sure there’s no misunderstanding at the register. If I ever go back, I’ll let you know if the tenders...
Read moreI have a problem with LaRosa Staten Island I’ve had a couple problems in the past with their menu many times stuff on the menu is either outdated or priced wrong for instance if you look at the lent fish menu and you see Fish platter comes with two sides and cornbread for $7.25 you would think you would pay $7.25 oh no not here put it in your cart and try to check out it’s $10.50 they charge you for each side even though it’s stated that it comes with the meal I called and spoke to a manager who insisted I was wrong even though I try to tell him that the customer is always right I also tried to tell him that it is probably against the law to have one price stated and to charge three dollars more is just robbery but yet the manager didn’t see it my way again the customer is not always right in his eyes... now if you want to talk about the food a lot of times when I order the food is cold/old my mac & cheese looks like it’s been sitting there for days taste the same bland and the chicken is always very salty. I will never order or eat food from LaRosa again they are crooks and they don’t believe that the customer is always right I hope this changes minds of potential customers there are better establishments...
