UPDATE: Levain responded to my email (Friday the day the cookies should have been delivered), apologizing for the delay and shipped the cookies overnight! Thankfully! So my kids received them on Saturday! I’ve changed my review from one star to 4star. I would give them a five normally bcse the cookies are amazing but it really is a shame that you have no direct contact with the company. Regardless, Thank you Levain for making it right and the cookies were a hit!! We always loved Levain cookies - always stopping in their store when we were in NYC. I decided to send my kids a tin of their holiday cookies while they are studying for finals at college. I was so excited to surprise them! I ordered the cookies on Monday 12/9 for delivery on Friday 12/13. My kids leave to come home on Monday 12/16. When I picked the ship date it said 2 day shipping, so I knew they needed to ship by Wednesday. Wednesday I received a “we are baking your order” email with a track package link..so I was optimistic. Wednesday came and went, Thursday I tried to contact them. You can only contact them via email????? Or text??? So of course I sent both - you get an automatic computer generated response that they get back to you within 48hrs??? A company this big and no customer service contact?? So this morning I tried in vain to find a number and as a last resort I called their original store on 74th street. I talked to a lovely person named Matthew who said yes unfortunately he can’t look up my order and to send another email. He knew I was frustrated and agreed with me. So I sent another email. . I’ve still gotten no response EXCEPT - I received ANOTHER computer generated email that says “we are baking your order”??!! They’ve been baking my order since Wednesday?! And so ironic 2 min after I sent my email I get this auto response. I hope they do the right thing and contact me and either overnight the cookies or let me cancel the order. At this point a company this large should have a couple of people answering the phones to minimize these frustrating occurrences. It’s upsetting and makes me not want to give them anymore business going forward. Where’s the...
Read moreHonestly the best cookies I've tasted. If you come to NYC, this is the one place you HAVE to visit. I was visiting New York for the first time, and the first place I visited after getting off my train was Levain Bakery. I went on a Wednesday at 9:30AM, so there was no big line out the door or really any line at all. The shop isn't HARD to find, but it isn't easy to find. It's on a basement floor level, so keep your eyes peeled. I ordered two chocolate chip walnut, one dark chocolate chocolate chip, and one oatmeal raisin. I loved them ALL. All the cookies have a beautiful crispy outer shell, but theres a soft and warm middle. The chocolate chip walnut has a great amount of chocolate and the walnut addition is a great texture combo. The dark double chocolate was a chocolate lover's delight, and it's the first one I ate. What surprised me is the oatmeal raisin. It is the best oatmeal raisin cookie I've eaten. It's not too sweet, but there's a creamy, buttery and cinamon (?) taste of the dough. In every bite there's a lot of raisin, and honestly I would go back and order more of the oatmeal raisin. It was not dry, and I saved half so I could eat it back at home (19 hours later!). If you warm it up in the microwave for 10 sec, the inside gets nice and gooey again. Seating is very limited, so it's better to eat outside and enjoy the weather while eating a warm cookie. Overall, when I come back to NYC, this will be the first time I visit again. The service was fast and great and worth every penny...
Read moreI’m so frustrated. I can’t rate the product fairly because I haven’t received it. My husband and I fell in love with Levain on a visit to NYC. After seeing the advertisements for Valentine shipping, I placed an order almost a month ago to be received in Kentucky on Valentine Day. The first notification I received wasn’t until the afternoon of the 13th. It said due to inclement weather, my order could be postponed. They said they would contact the person receiving the gift if I provided an email address which I did. My recipient never received any information from them. Additionally, I recontacted them the following day with my order number to get further information as to why it had not been shipped and why I do not have any tracking information. If you were sending something that far, you would not wait to mail it on the 13th to arrive in Kentucky on the 14th. I have never received a reply to my email and I have not received tracking information. This was supposed to be dessert for my Valentine meal and now I don’t know when I will receive it. We are going out of town this weekend and I suppose it’ll arrive then when I’m not even home to get it or enjoy it. If I am back in New York City, I would definitely go in the store, but I would recommend to everyone to skip ordering and...
