Drinks are great, the food is as close to real Puertorican food I eat in Puerto Rico and the ambiance is as hip as it gets in the outer boroughs. The location is easy to get to from Queens (literally 18 min flat on my car from Hollis Hills) and while they dont have valet, the street parking was painless.
We had chuletas KanKan, Trifongo, chicharron de pollo, macitas de puerco, Sancocho, Surullos de maiz, Alcapurrias de Yuca, arroz con guandules, empanadas de pionono and of course, white rice and red beans. We also had their version of a Paella, Ropa Vieja, Ox tail and everything was presented with no fancy garnishments - because this food was simply beutiful and it didnt need it. We came twice and the service was very attentive and the food was right up there. The bar looks lively and everyone working there seems to be on the attractive side (Hehehe).
The crowd is mostly 20s to 40's, so being 50, I found the place very loud. Did, I mention there is a live DJ center stage, and the place looks like an ultra contemporary club with multiple huge screens playing some amazing music videos? The DJ played Old Salsa, new Salsa, Bachata, Hip Hop, and some very well mixed and cherry picked Rap. Well, this spot is very attractive, probably one of the prettiest contemporary looking eateries most will visit.
The prices are not cheap but very fair for what you get. I urge anyone that is looking for authentic Puertorican dishes and some of the best Latin cuisine anywhere in NYC, in an ultra contemporary environment, to visit Made in Puerto Rico. Unfortunately, I cannot give them 5 stars as the place is very loud and it is difficult to have a conversation, unless you are semi-screaming to your mates. To be fair, after a couple of drinks, people watching, and chilling on our booth, we didnt care about the loud sounds being pumped from the DJ booth. My family enjoyed every bite, every minute and were thankful that such a place exists...

My mother in law decided to have her birthday bash at this restaurant and I had my reservations on coming here because I had a bad experience before with this restaurant a few years back.
We had a 7pm reservation for 15. We arrived at 6:50 pm with half the party and we were immediately told that the rest of the party must arrive by 7:15pm or they would separate our tables and give to someone else. We told the manager that our party was here and looking for parking and still they took our tables. The rest of our party were now waiting for tables and we were scattered around the restaurant.
Then the manager tells us the clock has started at 7pm and that we had two hours regardless of how busy it was and that the waiter didn't take our food order until an hour had passed. We order second round of drinks and they never came until we complained again to the manager. WORST service ever.
We couldn't enjoy our food being rushed out of the restaurant. We all lost our appetites it was extremely upsetting.
Due to the poor service, no air conditioning, and horrible experience. We instead patronized Mama Juana Restaurant which was a few blocks away. Mama Juana immediately accommodated our group of 15. They provided excellent food & service one expects at a Restaurant without any time limitations.
Needless to say, we will never patronize Made in Puerto Rico again and I suggest no one who wants to have a great dinner patronize the establishment. However, if you want mediocre food with less than par service and arrogant management then Made in Puerto Rico is the...
Read moreMy best friend mother who is like a mother to me decided to have her birthday dinner at Made in Puerto Rico. When have you ever heard of a restaurant in NYC forcing customers to rush and eat their Dinner in under 2 hours? Made in PR is that nightmare restaurant Everyone needs to avoid!!!!! We were a group of 20 people and because all of us didn't get there at exactly 7pm, they gave away some of our tables so our party was scattered throughout the restaurant. They gave a 2 hour limit for DINNER but they were late bringing out our food and our drinks. I had to keep asking where our drinks and eventually had to go up to the bar to try and get service. Other members of our party had to order directly from the bar because the service was horrible. We only ordered appetizers and We couldn't enjoy our food being rushed out of the restaurant. We all lost our appetites it was extremely upsetting. I tried to talk to the manager about it he said and I quote " DO YOU REALLY WANT TO COMPLAIN BECAUSE YOU HAVE LESS THAN AN HOUR LEFT " WHILE HE WAS LOOKING AT HIS WATCH. He was an arrogant person who lost the restaurant at least $1000 worth of food and drinks. Due to the poor service, no air conditioning, and horrible experience, we instead patronized Mama Juana Restaurant which was a few blocks away. Mama Juana immediately accommodated our group of 15. They provided excellent food & service one expects at a Restaurant without any time limitations. Needless to say, we will NOT patronize Made in Puerto Rico and I suggest no one who wants to have a great dinner patronize the establishment either. However, if you want mediocre food with less than par service and arrogant management then Made in Puerto Rico is the...
