I moved to the Bronx about 3 years ago and am only about 10 minutes away from this diner but for some reason never stopped in even though I’ve heard it’s a staple in the community. Last weekend we had a death in the family and I was hosting about 20 people at my house for a last-minute memorial brunch. Crosstown diner had a wonderful catering menu online so I called to place an order 2 days before my event for the hot complete breakfast (choice of French toast or pancakes, scrambled eggs, bacon or sausage, and home fries). The prices were fair and there’s a lot of selection. I would definitely consider them for future events. Bill took my order was extremely helpful in answering all my questions. About 30 minutes before my event, my mother in law told me an extra 10 people would be joining us! Bill was AWESOME about accommodating the extra food I needed and although I gave such a short notice (completely my fault) he made it happen and saved the day. And to top it off, the food was still delivered on time for my event. Paper goods, plastic cutlery, butter, syrup and jelly were also included. To supplement the food I ordered from Crosstown, I also made a few dishes but the food from Crosstown was the hit of the brunch. Everyone commented on how fluffy and delicious the pancakes were and how perfect the bacon was. It was wonderful to share such a warm, hearty meal with family, while we came together to celebrate the life of our loved one. I absolutely recommend Crosstown Diner for any of your catering needs. To Bill and his team, thank you for making such a difficult time a little easier and for bringing a smile to our faces. By the way- Bill did not know the food was for a memorial brunch until after it was already delivered yet he provided TOP NOTCH service. That meant a lot to me because it made me know he does this for all customers and was not doing it simply because we had suffered a loss....
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Crosstown Diner and I must say, the experience was absolutely delightful. From the moment I entered the restaurant, I was greeted by the warm and inviting atmosphere, making me feel right at home.
One of the highlights of my visit was the exceptional service provided by Rose, our waitress. She was friendly, attentive, and displayed a genuine passion for ensuring a memorable dining experience. Rose went above and beyond to cater to our needs, providing helpful recommendations and ensuring our satisfaction throughout the meal.
Now let's talk about the food, because it was truly exceptional. The Benny waffle platter caught my attention, and boy, was it a treat for the taste buds. The combination of the perfectly cooked waffles, the richness of the hollandaise sauce, and the savory Canadian bacon worked together harmoniously, creating a symphony of flavors that left me craving for more.
Equally as impressive was the avocado mushroom, onion, tomato omelette platter. The omelette was perfectly fluffy, and the generous filling of avocado, mushrooms, onion, and tomato added a burst of freshness and earthy flavors. Accompanied by a side of crispy hash browns and toast, this dish was a hearty and satisfying breakfast option.
Not only was the food incredibly delicious, but the portion sizes were generous as well. Crosstown Diner certainly knows how to satisfy their customers' appetites.
Overall, my experience at Crosstown Diner could not have been better. The exceptional service provided by Rose combined with the mouthwatering Benny waffle platter and avocado mushroom, onion, tomato omelette platter made for an unforgettable dining experience. Read moreBe aware that at the moment you pay, the cashier doesn't manipulate the Tip. The cashier will take your credit card, process the transaction, select the Highest possible tip without allowing you to choose the percentage, and then quickly present the credit card reader for you to sign it without verifying the amount. In other restaurants you are in charge of tapping the credit card and selecting the Tip. This man does everything for you very quickly.
When I finally signed I saw the receipt with a very high amount as the Tip. This cashier charged me 30% Tip on my bill. I was able to catch this right away and I voided the transaction. I asked this man to process it again - and I left the tip I was willing to give. I am deeply disappointed by this unethical behavior and have lost trust on the Crosstown Diner. I will never come back here again. I could truly say that this man is used to manipulate the big Tips which I assume all the staff will share at the end of the day. I believe this is not an isolated incident and that other customers may have fallen victims of this scam, since many people pay and leave the restaurant without looking at the final receipt. Be aware. Check your bill, check your Tip. Or even better, Don't go...
