Edit: forgot to mention the matcha honestly is terrible
Unfortunately Iāll have to follow behind the other reviews stating this is not a place minorities should visit. The woman who is normally there ( not sure if itās the owner) is NEVER friendly towards me when I enter. There is a clear difference with how she interacts with other clients and then minorities. This morning I walked in and stood in line behind a nice couple who ordered and paid. To allow space for other people to come in I stepped up to the register while the couple had a conversation about heating up their baked goods on the side. The woman and man had been taking turns taking orders, as soon as I walked up to the register. The woman didnāt even say hello (although she was very friendly with the couple in front of me) instead of a good morning or hello, I was met with an agitated ādo you need somethingā, confused I replied yes, she then proceeds to tell me āthe line is over there ā while gesturing rudely with her hands. I let her know Iād been here before the additional people came but that Iād just leave. If she didnāt notice me there the whole time thatās fine but sheās so rude and based on other reviews itās selective. For context Iām a black woman and was professionally dressed (not that it should even matter). As others have stated other minorities (transgender, etc) have also had negative experiences. Thereās a Brooklyn Blend in the area Iāll be...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreUnfortunately the woman owner seems to pick and choose who she provides good customer service to and it seems like itās only people of a certain demographic. My partner is regular here and usually has good experiences with the younger baristas as they treat him with kindness and respect. I personally donāt frequent the store as much since they make terrible matchaās that often have clumps and doesnāt taste good since itās a low quality matcha. I rather support the black owned cafĆØ in the neighborhood Brooklyn blend as they make high quality matcha and coffee but I do enjoy Mochaās from this establishment, I asked my partner to get me a mocha and he came back upset because the owner made him feel unwelcome and uncomfortable, he expressed she greeted and spoke to every customer that came into the store except him and when his drink was made didnāt even notify it was made and another worker noticed the drink sitting there and let him know it was ready. Kinda unfortunate the owners give racist vibes in a historically black neighborhood especially when we frequented the place due to it being at the end of the block from where we live. Unfortunately we will no longer frequent the business and hopefully they realize being racist isnāt cool especially in Bedstuy which is why Brooklyn blend is always packed with customers and this...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe taller guy who works here and has a beard, wears a newsies type hat and a neck-gator mask is incredibly rude/always has an attitude like heās miserable working here. My first experience was going in as it is a few blocks from my apartment with my girlfriend, we couldnāt believe how rude he was but chalked it up to just a bad day. The next time we went two younger guys were working and they were awesome and really friendly, and the next few visits it was always those two younger guys so seemed like this could become a regular coffee spot. This morning went in and it was the older guy again, and asked for a tray to carry the two drinks and he sighs and holds up a plastic bag, I simply said āthatās okay - I can carry themā - he then gets crazy attitude and says āitās a special bag for carrying the drinksā - huge condescending tone, even though I know this...I then try and explain that itās okay - I just was going to try and pick something up after but can make two trips as I live close - again, I am met with crazy attitude. So thatās twice this person has been incredibly rude for no reason so thatās it for me. Plenty of other coffee shops in the area, and I would recommend them - avoid this place and this personās miserable attitude. Thatās not how anyone should want to...
