We came to check it out last friday 3/10, we arrived at 7pm for a tabke of 5ppl. I came here based on my wife's experience during lunch and recomendations and review from other elites. We started by ordering the squid in garlic sauce and the Portuguese sausage appetizers. I will tell you that the squid was soft, tender and well seasoned. The sausage was ok, i am not sure if it was that it had been overcooked. We decided to order a small seafood paella, red snapper with baked potatoe and a side of rice. The garlic shrimp with spinach and broccoli and for the kids we had spaghetti and meatballs. Our favorite among the adults was the red snapper. A full size red snapper nicely grilled to perfection. Soft tender flesh, very flavorful. The fish itself was perfectly done. The shrimp in garlic sauce well, that speaks for itself. Buttery, garlicky and shrimps? Hello, complete winner all day long. The shrimp came with broccoli and spinach. I think we could have asked for more al dente broccoli but that will be for the next time we visit. The least favorite was the paella. For me a traditional paella has to have Soccarat, the golden bottom crust goodness. This crust forms at the bottom of the pan and it is full if flavor. Dont confuse it with a black bottom which has the flavor of burnt rice, cause that is not Soccarat. Yes it had plenty of seafood and big pieces of lobster. I dod not lile but the strong tomato flavor on the paella, it had a hint of sweet mixed in with the tomato flavor. Its probably that they just do it differently but it was not something that i would order again. My wife had been here for lunch and she was raving that the lobster was delicious. Oddly enough the fish cane with a side of yellow rice and that rice we end mixing it with the paella because the rice in the paella had an excess of tomato broth. I can tell you that Maria our server is an amazing and a divine lady. She expedited our orders for the kids quickly and she even brought the food out b4 we had a chance to ask for it, talk about anticipatory service. Her mixing skills at the bar are amazing as well. She made us 5 capirina and 1 french martini and her drinks were on point every time. When i mentioned I love Margaritas, she introduced us to Sofia, who happens to be the best bartender when it comes to making margaritas. The entire table agreed that the next time we come in, we will try out Sofia's famous margarita. This place is solid for lunch or dinner, we will certainly return with the family to check out the rest of the menu. The wait staff is really friendly and nice and very helpful. I ordered unsweatened Ice Tea and they brought a fresh picture... very thoughtful. I had lobster Bisque which was so tasty with lobster pieces in it. I also had Grilled Octopus and that was amazing. Cannot tell you how delicious the sauce was. Then had a very fresh salad. For the Main dish I had Grilled Lamb Chops with a sauce that had a hint of cheese. After being completely blown away by the food, my friend ordered expresso and dessert, Creme Brulee.. Besides having a sugar high... I was in food heaven. You know I needed this. I also tasted one of their Oysters and several pieces of Lobster in a spicy red sauce. What a Meal... Update: November 8 2024 Took my friend to Kennedy Airport and called my friend Joe to see if he wanted to go out. It was late on Friday night.. As always food was great. Oysters were amazing. Their staff, Diego, Sofia and another lady were attentive, friendly and ensured that our celebration was a success. Their boss allowed us to bring our own cake. All six of us found our choices of drinks, appetizers and main courses deliciousššš! Like most restaurants do, they automatically charged us service fee because we are a group of six. In appreciation of our excellentš¤ššdining experience, use of six more saucers and teaspoons for our cake, both Diego and Sofia not minding my inquiry whether two orders of coffee were ours or not and Sofia explaining nicely that those were ordered before dinner (my husband and I arrived after our guests), I gave them additional tip to thank them profusely. Recently, I noticed that the amount Matteusā charged on my credit card was LESS than what I had written on the receipt. I realized that my addition was incorrect. Matteus is not only a nice place with excellent food and great staff, they are also HONEST and gave me back $12.75!!! They could have charged me the amount that I wrote and signed but didnāt.
