Deeply inappropriate and hostile experience for certain ethnic identities
My friends and I came in for what was supposed to be a casual lunch, but instead found ourselves subjected to an aggressive and deeply inappropriate encounter with a staff member—specifically the waitress who was greeting guests and cleaning tables.
Soon after we were seated, she began asking about our ethnic backgrounds (we are a mixed group of Asians and non-Asians). What started as what we assumed was idle curiosity quickly escalated into something far more disturbing. Upon learning that some of us are Taiwanese and Hongkongers, the waitress launched into an unsolicited and aggressive political rant, repeatedly insisting that “China owns Taiwan and Hong Kong” and challenging our identities in a confrontational manner.
Despite clearly and repeatedly telling her we did not want to discuss politics, she continued to return to our table uninvited to push her views throughout the meal. It was not just uncomfortable—it was invasive, disrespectful, and crossed multiple professional boundaries.
We felt targeted, harassed, and unsafe during what should have been a simple lunch. It is absolutely unacceptable for any restaurant staff member to impose political opinions on guests, especially after being explicitly told to stop multiple times. This behavior was not only unprofessional—it was hostile.
We left feeling shaken and disrespected. We will not be returning, and we strongly urge the management to take...
Read moreThis is a place I've frequented since it opened at this location. For those who have not been there, this noodle shop is a self served setup. I went there again a week ago, but soon after I placed my order I realized I couldn't find a seat. I immediately asked the cashier to cancel my order because there was no seat available. It was literally just 30 seconds after my order was placed. I told the cashier I would go to do grocery shopping at the supermarket across the street and come back later. However, she didn't practice common sense, to say politely; I lost $14.00 that day. I spent about $50.00 a week at that place, but they're quite busy. I'm sure they don't miss or need my business. I have to select at least one star or I cannot post this review; for this incident, I don't think a star is deserved.
This is a follow up to my previous post of Maxi’s Noodle 2. A couple of days after my comment posted the owner of Maxi’s Noodle responded to my post and offered to give me a refund. She was sincere to resolve the issue, and I believed she was not pretentious. However, that particular staff member had ruined it for me. I do not have any ill will towards the owner, nor I would discourage anyone to give her shop a try. But for me, I have no...
Read moreMaxi's Noodles 2 is the second location (I'm guessing you could assume that by the 2) in Flushing, the other location is also in Flushing. Flushing has a wealth of good food options so it must be competitive.
My wife and I are town for a visit and Maxi's 2 is fairly new, about a year old, and I tried it because the original had good reviews and there were people inside. The place looked clean with a lot of seating.
I ordered a wonton noodle soup for my wife and a wonton beef stew noodle soup as take-out. The price is based on number of toppings, including the noodles. You go inside and order and pay at a counter.
They seemed to have a responsive kitchen staff, they made the others right away and my take-out order came out relatively quick, they probably have the wontons and beef stew prepped and ready to go.
The beef stew was very tender and the wontons were all shrimp, I like my wontons with pork too, but didn't mind because the wontons seemed like the biggest ones I've ever had and the wonton mixture was pretty tasty. The food was a decent portion, while waiting it seemed a little bigger for dine-in, but I'm good with it.
Good addition to the...
