Mendy's — Restaurant in New York

Never been so disappointed in a restaurant since I moved to NY. I'm home sick today and decided to order 2 chicken noodle soups and an Israeli salad (overpriced at $15, so I expected something decent) from this place at a roommate's suggestion.

An hour later, it arrives and it's the saddest excuse for food I have ever seen. The soups were nothing but noodles in a salty, nasty-tasting broth, and the "Israeli" salad was nothing but cucumbers and tomatoes with no salt, pepper, lemon, etc. and I'd like to re-emphasize that the soup broth tasted purely like MSG. No chicken and no vegetables.

My roommate and I call them back and ask for a refund, and they argue with us! The man on the phone tells us "chicken noodle soup" doesn't have to have vegetables in it because it's "not in the name." What? Did you make this without vegetables? It sure tastes like it. And he had no explanation for why there was no chicken, either. Pretty sure that's in the name "CHICKEN noodle soup."

After arguing, they finally refunded ONE soup. Never encountered such a cheap, unprofessional place before. My roommate and I will never order from them again. $10 in the trash, no more in the food budget for today, and I don't have soup.

EDIT: They have not even refunded me the one soup they said they...

Such a weird restaurant experience. They put the wrong meat in the sandwiches we ordered (their claim was they cut the pastrami to look like corn beef but the people who ate it said definitely wasn't pastrami). The hummus we ordered was a watery mess on top of that they didn't include the pita. The 1 out of the 4 swarma eggrolls was actually a swarma eggroll the rest were pastrami (two come in an order so somehow how they got 1 out of 4 in the two orders correct) the place was empty it was an order placed at like 2pm. Twice they (Raffi) called and said they would refund the problematic items and I would see an email... but never did - then they said they were going to give a store credit (for less than the original refund they were going to give) because they said their receipts delete? I still have the electronic receipt in my email... That call concluded with he will look again and send the refund email. Those calls were Nov 13 & 14. Never got an email. Never got a refund from them. It was a weird experience with the food and a stranger experience with the customer service after. Suffice it to say my family won't be asking me to bring Mendy's back...

Mendy’s is my favorite place to eat in town. The food is abdolutely incredible, beyond explanation. The service is as good as the food too. Super friendly people, food comes out fast, and they take care of any custom requests you ask from them. I spoke with some workers and they explained to me how all the food is natural and homemade on the spot. They ground and process their own meats. I highly reccomend the fafel and the rib eye stake wrap. Bought tasted very natural, healthy, and incredible. The falaphel was one of the best I have tried in a very long time.
