In a class of it's own on Metro, and even Forest Hills, its got that hipster Mexican vibe that mixes one part Mexican street food, one part classic texmex and one part American contemporary preparation cooking techniques. Great tacos, an awesome chipotle crema sauce, and even vegan and vegetarian chorizo options round this one out. The inside has a clean minimalist white interior, with only a touch of Mexican decor, but has a laid back feel like you were just hanging out at a friend's backyard, no pretension here. A small but nice bar here, but this place is more eatery than bar. Foods a tad spicy, so if that's not your thing take note. Rice and beans have a great elevated home made taste to them. About the only complaint I have is with the pricing, which is a tad high for the portion size. You'll have to order four tacos to really be full, and the menu is geared more to the tacos than the entrees. The entree platters are smaller than your typical portion at Chipoltes, and with no complimentary chips and salsa the portion just feels a bit small for 15+ dollar entree. On the flip side there is a giant 2lb burrito which is filled to the brim with meat, and really could serve three people, so they vacillate between two extremes. Still, the food is good, the staff was friendly and theres nowhere really like it in the area. Overall a welcome addition to metropolitan ave and the forest hills dining scene, a great place to visit after a trip to cinemart. Have to say with this, and the new dumpling place, it looks like Metro may overtake Austin street soon enough, give it another 3 good restaurants and you really have...
Read moreJust got the new to-go nachos and margaritas. We also got brussels sprouts and wings. Everything was SO delicious! The nachos came in a pizza box (so smart!) and traveled well to get from the restaurant to our place. Still warm + crunchy by the time we dug in. The margaritas were freshly made and boozy. 😉 I always love a good margarita and their's are fantastic! The resealable container holds about 8 margaritas. The Adobo Brussels + Wings were perfection. 👌 Love the addition of pineapple on the wings to give them a little sweet + spicy flavoring. I've ordered from them a bunch during quarantine and everything's always been great. Really excited for the addition of the to-go nachos + large batch margaritas! Highly recommend them to everyone & happy to support a neighborhood business owned...
Read moreI was very happy when I saw this restaurant was opening in Forest Hills and eager to try it. After stopping by I was so pleased by the food and the cozy, welcoming decor. The kind of place where I would bring a date, take out my parents, and even just stop by for a drink.
I've been on the search for Mexican in these parts and after trying them all, it is 100% the best Mexican food in Forest Hills. My group enjoyed all the classics like their impressive nacho tower, gorgeous looking burrito, and to-die-for guac.
I was very grateful for all the gluten free options and the many dishes which accommodated my meat free diet (which I had given up for Lent). I'm looking forward to going back for the pulled pork tacos which everyone in my group loved!
Will certainly go back and would...
