I want to preface my review by mentioning that the food was so good, I forgot to take a picture of it. This rarely happens. Here's a list of what we got for a family of 3, (2 adults, 1 child) we left the restaurant full and satisfied.
Scallion Pancake - So incredibly delicious, flaky, chewy, and crispy all at the same time. Scallion flavor is not overwhelming and just the right amount of salt. I wish we had gotten 2 orders of this.
Pork & Mushroom Shumai - The fold on the Shumai is so lovely to look at. Beautiful twisted and plump, full of filling. The wrapper is the right amount of chewy, and the filling is wonderful and flavorful. Our meal came with this vinegar sauce, which is really overpowering if you use too much. But if you just ever so slightly dab your dumpling in it, it adds a beautiful acidity and really rounds out the dumpling. Highly recommend.
Fried Pork and Shrimp Dumpling - These were great. I prefer fried dumplings, so this one hit the spot for me. Nice sear on the dumpling, and like the shumai, it was filled really nicely. They do not skimp on filling here. The filling is really flavorful and juicy. Can't beat this one.
Soup Dumplings - I've had plenty of soup dumplings and while these are super, super tasty, I wish they had more broth. The filling doesn't leave a ton of room for the broth. As I mentioned before, they don't skimp on filling here and this is the one dumpling I wish they WOULD skimp a little on to make room for more yummy broth.
Spicy Wonton Soup - This is the version without noodles. The broth is DELICIOUS, but SPICY. I have a high tolerance for spice, but my wife does not. They put a lot of spicy oil in this soup, so be careful. It was simple enough to take some oil out to make it less spicy though. The wonton wrappers are toothsome, not overcooked at all. The meat inside was delicious. The serving is very large, it comes in a ramen-style bowl.
Roasted Pork Bun - OMG the bun was so fluffy and soft. Absolutely delightful. The meat was really tasty, the sauce is sweet but not much else. I think this one is missing some acidity. I added some of the vinegar sauce and it really improved the flavor.
Our total with everything listed above, plus 3 sodas came out to $55 before tip. This was well worth it and we will definitely be back. The value here is unbeatable for the area. The staff is also very kind and helpful.
If you're local you definitely need to be coming here, and if you are passing through, this is...
