Just buy the chicken to go at this original Woodhaven Blvd location. It is why you eat here after all. After being on site for so many years they still haven't mastered the simple task of customer service and accommodation. It is cash only so you know the owners are not paying their fair share of taxes but are reaping the rewards of their presence in America. You cannot use the bathroom so drink lightly because you may have to run home to go!!! Yes it is a hole in the wall but what if???? The avocado salad comes watered down with a cheap blend of vinegar, seasonings and god knows what. They do not provide you with oil and vinegar as many places do. So instead you are forced to eat your salad with this tart concoction. Table service only returns after you have eaten your meal, drank your first beverage and are choking on whatever you chose to eat, so BYOB, otherwise you may pass out from dry mouth. This place is truly a money maker for the owners but it should be shut down and replaced with a shoe repair shop, or anything else. Go to Northern Blvd instead or Amsterdam Ave, at least at those locations you can wash your hands and empty your bladder if you need to unless you are a savage and don't have those concerns. Pass...

Food is awesome. The matador combo is my favorite dish šŸ˜ Pio Pio is hands down my favorite restaurant for Peruvian food in NYC...The low rating is because this location has no bathroom and does not accept cash. At a dine-in restaurant it is an ultimate courtesy to have a bathroom for guests. I was uncomfortable having to hold it after my glass of Sangria. I had to walk to another nearby lounge and make a purchase just to use the bathroom. In this day and age, what restaurant doesn't accept cash. No one usually walks around with large amounts of cash and the bill can be very costly after an appetizer, entree, dessert and drinks. Please try to work something out with these issues. I wanted to love this location because it is a small and intimate setting but I don't think I will return unless they get a bathroom and start excepting card transactions. Also, the waiter kept my change without asking me if I wanted it. Regardless of the amount- I don't think that is professional at all. I was kind enough to let him keep it but the next time if I ever come back to this location I won't be...

Imma start with the cons. This is the smaller version of the other location that is huge. This is a very small place. 4 tables only. You feel crammed. No bar. No BATHROOMS. CASH ONLY!! That being said. The staff is very attentive, friendly and service is fast. There famous green sauce is worth the cons. You can eat this with anything. We got the "el matador combo". Best option for two or three people. It comes with whole chicken, yellow rice red beans, your choice of fried green plantains or sweet. Sausage and fries and an avocado salad with sauce. All that for 39 bucks!! The pitcher of sangria is perfect choice if your undecided about what to drink. Not too sweet and you barley taste the alcohol. Delivery and pick ups are available. Good for a date, small groups. Too small for families. But the...

(4.3/5 rating) I’ve been going here for a few years and if you’re looking for a quick Peruvian vibe this is it. Unlike the other Pios this one is small with limited menu choices. It’s ideal for a lunch special which comes with chicken. Rice beans and salad. The sangria always hits. However this last time I went I was disappointed with the service & also seems that their chef or something has changed with their cooking. The rice beans and chicken tasted different. The salad was alright. Their staff and service can improve & also seasoning tasted better before.

I have been going to Pio Pio for over 25 years. The prices have gone up considerably over the past few years and the food quality as diminished tremendously. This was my go to place but now I must say after a few take out orders, I can’t bring myself to return. The last order I received, the chicken was dry, the tostones were burnt, the avocado was old and brown, the salad was old and stale, and the friend fries were raw inside. The only thing that was decent was the rice and beans. No thank you! Oh and by the way, this was the REGO PARK location !!
