I've come here as far back as 2018, and I honestly don't know why. As of the last 5 years, the quality has seriously deteriorated. I'll explain my most recent visit.
Came in, place is clean for the most part at first glance. I order my food to go, and ask for a patacon sandwich with a cabbage substitution because warm lettuce is far from appetizing to my palette. This is approximately a $15 sandwich taken up to a total of $17. That is absolutely fine on my end. Given inflation, costs of operation, etc. Totally valid. Prices are on the menu, but I'm not sure if I would have wanted cabbage or lettuce for $2. I digress.
I took advantage of the wait time (~15 mins) and used the restroom. It smelled like nothing but dead mice in there. Urine was also observed on the floor. Had I used the restroom PRIOR to ordering, I would have left without a second thought. But I pressed on, used the restroom, and promised to never return.
After opening up my sandwich, the presentation was decent. But I was perplexed as something layered in ketchup, mayo, cheese, tomato, and grilled chicken was dry and lacking in flavor. The plantain casing was thick but could have been toasted a bit more for crunch/texture.
This location is disappointing and overpriced. But, don't take my word for it. If I COULD make a suggestion, find the deceased mice in your bathroom 🐀🐀🐀
I won't...
Read moreSays they close at 2 am passed by at 12:15am and they were closed. Be responsible and adhere to your hours or adjust them so people don’t waste their time going to your location.
Adding to this review because I’ve returned 2 more times since this incident. First time back, same nonsense although this time the gates weren’t down and the employees were just hanging out doing nothing and when I walked in they said they were closed, this was at about 12:30am when they are supposed to close at 2. The next that I went I specifically asked if they were opened, they guy didn’t open his mouth at all just shook his head yea, the. I asked for empanadas, and they said now. Now here’s the thing, I know they had empanadas, because they have them just not fried. This isn’t the first time they’ve not had some on the display, the guy just didn’t want to do anything, I know this cause some guy came out from the back of the restaurant as I was leaving and asked me how many empanadas I wanted and I replied that this location is a joke, never wanting to work what so ever. Closing early and being lazy. If I could give this place zero...
Read moreTraditional Dominican Chimichurri burger lends its name to this small chain of just several locations in NYC. Sandwiches (chimis) are so rich flavor that they call themselves “Rico Chimi”. Obvious. Place on Myrtle Ave is surprisingly much better looking inside that outside. Its bright, plenty of air, lots of wood panels. Feels like family place to me. There are 7 tables inside with some outdoor seating. Though nearby subway makes so much noise that seating outside is only for hearing-challenged people. Menu is varied - lots of drinks including natural juices, lots of Dominican and Spanish-influenced dishes such as quesadillas, patacones, fritura , picao, emoanadas, monfongos, yaroas, burritos and even gyros! Every dish comes in variety of options, I counted about 15 variants only for fritura. I chose myself traditional chicken chimi and I wasn’t disappointed. Pieces of chicken, lots of vegetables (always a good idea) and juicy cabbage. I really enjoyed. And its comes in a size enough to satisfy a hungry man. So don’t skip this place over....
