DO NOT GO BETWEEN 5:50am-6:30am!!!!! Full disclosure: I’m writing this while hangry. Anyway, I’ve been here a few times. Food is fine - after drinking, average diner quality. Had AMAZING service last time I came, TERRIBLE service this time. I walked in around 5:55am, was greeted immediately, and then promptly informed that they couldn’t take my order. The reason given was that the current waiter was leaving (assuming his shift ends at 6am) and no one would “give me my food”. I asked about the chef, about the kitchen staff, explained that I wasn’t dining in but taking food to go, and attempted asking if he’d just enter my to-go order real quick (I’m VERY HUNGRY and set on grits & eggs). As I’m looking for compromises, what appears to be the waiter’s friend walks through the door. They share a cute greeting, and he continues explaining that he can’t (“can’t”😑) take the order and that I have the option wait for the next waiter to arrive. Oh, but also, he doesn’t know when she’s coming cause she’s always late and it could be ANYWHERE FROM FIVE TO FORTY MINUTES. When I express how ridiculous it is that they say 24hrs but aren’t really, his response is, “yea, the owner knows all about it🤷♂️.” He and his friend proceed to walk out the door and down the block gleefully… I feel bamboozled, hangry, and like I could throw salt in their eyes.
In summary: Dont come here during the times listed above. Otherwise,...
Read moreHonestly how ridiculous is this place. Every time I come it’s some ridiculous management ordeal. First time I went a tall gentleman who I assume is the owner was reprimanding the staff in front of customers, also as a higher up in the facility would not hold doors open when coming in or out for guests. Second time I didn’t even sit. It was 2 in my party, another couple was waiting and another gentleman. There were 2 tables available with 4 person capacity each. The waitress with a semi-dyed curled hair said she cannot seat any of us in case if bigger parties come in and need the tables, but I see at the front corner near the window a couple sitting in a 4-person table.... I ask why must we wait if there’s clearly no bigger parties around after 10 minutes of waiting, I was told it was policy and she can ask her manager but with such an attitude and sarcasm. In that minute they lost 5 paying customers. We couldn’t ask if the couples can share a table? Or seat the people seprately? Oh and I called in attempt to fix this problem before posting, but the number listed does not work. If they want to stay afloat the ego needs to leave and management needs a retraining on how to properly take...
Read moreI really wanted to like this place during my short trip to NYC. We went here twice because we stayed in the neighbourhood, both times it took forever to get the food. On the first day we thought it was a fluke when the table next to us got their food first, even though they had arrived and ordered long after us. But when it happened again the next day, I was about to cancel everything and walk out. When it finally arrived this time (in parts, my partner was almost finished with his, when mine came) it wasn't quite how we wanted it. My bread was burned, his poached eggs were rock-hard. The server gave the cooks a good talking to in the kitchen, which we could witness from our table. Afterwards he slammed stuff around and started piling up full plates on top of each other under the heater. Having worked as a chef myself I was shocked to see that.
It seems to me that they're taking on more than they can chew what with a full house, plus making take-out and app-ordered foods on top of that. The kitchen doesn't seem to be up to the challenge and honestly some of the servers run around like headless chicken too. It was okay the first day, but the second day was just...
