Before anyone makes a purchase of anything, please read this as an eye-opener. My last experience there was very upsetting. Aside from not letting customers know there is MSG, Xanthan Gum and nuts in multiple popular dishes, they take the money first and deal with the consequences later. The management, which is all family, has been caught sleeping several times on the couches even in the front entrance where guests have walked in and saw for themselves. They watch TV instead of helping the staff take care of customers or clean anything; fridges, ice machines (beware of the ice), dining areas, tables, seats, floors, etc. There is no urgency when making orders, to the point where a customer will order and wait 15 minutes before they get up to start making it (this explains why paying customers are waiting extended periods of time when the dining room is empty). Better yet, they will sometimes make the dishwashers and servers prepare and cook the food. Also, if you are not "nice" or simply "annoying" they will purposefully not prepare the order as it says it should be, make the guests wait even longer or up-charge them. They do not pay their workers and are late whenever they decide to. They had issues with 8 other employees that I have witnessed in person, regarding their paycheck. It is despicable to hold money that was worked hard for. The name for this is called STEALING. Also, for anyone reading, do not leave tips for the staff in the tip jar, they will take it for themselves to buy their lunch and other things, when ALL tips are supposed to go to the working waitstaff. It is not petty, nor are these statements false, I cannot continue to be quiet, as it seems as though that will allow them to continue to take advantage of those willing to help the restaurant succeed. They have ignored my efforts in reaching out to them so I have to bring awareness where they will see it. I will NOT remove this review UNTIL I am paid...
Read moreMy wife and twin boys were in the neighborhood looking for a place to dine in for Mother's Day and we found MBK. We love Jamaican food so when I searched Google for restaurants nearby we didn't hesitate to give it a try.
Huge bar, numerous mounted TV screens for sports, great artwork, perfect lighting, with great choice of tunes by the live DJ. MBK is a spot worth visiting.
The vibrant Caribbean ambience wasn't the only thing worth sharing.
The food didn't disappoint!
We started with the Calypso calamari with a semi spicy mango sauce on the side. Then my wife ordered the lobster mac and cheese, my boys ordered the crackling chicken tenders with fries, and I had the oxtails dish. 10 out of 10!!
The calamari with the sauce was a great pick to start! My boys loved the chicken! My wife loved her mac and cheese and I did a horrible job sharing my oxtails. The oxtails were on point! Perfectly braised and seasoned; each oxtail dripped with flavor that did not disappoint. Bigup to the chef!!
We ordered the rum punch in a pitcher. I would've liked to taste a little more Wray & Nephew but that's my personal preference.
A special thanks to our...
Read moreI’ve been meaning to stop in here for over 2 years. I met Phil at an event in the neighborhood and wanted to support him and try it out but I never made it in. I’m making steaks tonight but I ordered some Rasta pasta for a side and got some jerk chicken with it. The only reason I took off the 5th star is because waiting 44 minutes for Rasta pasta is diabolical. I would not have ordered take out if I had known I’d be sitting with a toddler for 44 minutes. I got the food home and it slaps. The jerk chicken is spicy and so succulent, tender, and juicy. With the pasta it’s perfectly saucy but I hope you get a lot more sauce if you get it with rice and peas. I’ll definitely go back with my friends but I’ll mentally prepare myself for a long...
