This place was good, but can be even better. The service was very good, I dont recall our waiters name, but he was a young guy with wearing a hat. The bartender was also attentive to us even though we were not at the bar. Should be noted that place was dead, which had me concerned, luckily the food was good.
We ordered 4 drinks, 2 apps, 2 entrees and a dessert for $147, so I felt it was reasonably priced. The portions were of average size. Everything we ordered was good; Buffalo Shrimp and Pork Nachos (nachos were different and plated beautifully). Entrees were gnocchi with shredded pork and pork chop with spaetzle, both very good. The dessert options were kind of boring, we.got bread pudding and it was okay. Probably my least favorite thing we ordered, but.not bad.
Note to owner/chef: the menu needs to be more diverse. Having a fried chicken sandwich, fried chicken tenders and boneless fried chicken as 3 separate entrees is way too repetitive. Also, I think 80% of the dishes had pork, I love pork but do something different. There were 4 pasta specials, handmade pasta...would have loved to try it, because I make my own pasta on occasion, but each one was the exact same..marinara, parmesan, and sausage, and I didn't want red sauce, thus there was no way for me to try it.
The chef has some skill, the menu needs to do a better job of showing them off...then I'll...
Read moreI have been eating here for about 10 years, since I found the place when I was househunting in Floral Park. I have NEVER been disappointed in about 50 trips here over the years. I have brought friends and family, including people who (like me) eat in Manhattan a lot. No disappointments. I came for New Year's once. Fine. We had my wife's baby shower here -- and since then, two of her guests had their baby showers there as well. This is a friendly place where they get to know you fast. They don't do much comping because their prices are already very reasonable (so don't expect free drinks or desserts just because you go every couple of months), but they do offer a free soup as a middle course to everyone, and it is very tasty. The pastas -- particularly the gnocchi -- are very nice, and are often paired with interesting proteins. The burger and fries option is a steal, but they do such good cooking why bother with that old staple. Kids meals are good, too -- the chicken fingers are high quality and I often hope my son won't finish his so I can. We take out from here sometimes as well. 5 stars. ...
Read moreOn a recent visit to this restaurant we were astonished to see mice running around the restaurant. The lady owner knew about the mice, as we observed her talking to the waitress after they both saw the mice scurrying across the dining room floor. When we brought it to the owner's attention, she pretended to be surprised at the fact that there were mice and her only answer was that she would let the building people know !!!. What a ridiculous thing to say !!....she IS the owner of the building and to have such an unsanitary situation in any dining room beggars belief. I shudder to think what is happening in the kitchen and food preparation area !! It was definitely the most unpleasant dining experience I have ever had to endure. There is no excuse for mice running back and forth across the restaurant when trying to eat dinner.
Be aware of this situation and think twice before you dine there and deal with an owner who more or less, shrugs her shoulders when notified about the problem....
