El Nopal of Floral Park — Restaurant in Town of Hempstead

My kids and I love Mexican food (like tacos, quesadilla, nachos, burrito, fajitas, etc.) so we do hunt for "good" Authentic Mexican place. Saw this place a few months back but was hesitant to go and try their food. Months later, I read so many good reviews. So I need to try and have the kids (2 teenagers) judge for themselves. Note, we go to SoCal every year and all we do there is eat tacos from any Taquerias we see. Long story short, my son was in awe when he first tasted the Nachos with Carne Asada - he said it was so goooood! I did order the 3 Tacos, Carne Asada, Chicken and Al Pastor. First bite of the chicken, hmmm, good! Carne Asada, dang, delicious. Al Pastor, "WHAT THE????" My son took a bite as well and he was like, "Dad, forget about Moho!" As a local guide, I searched for the best nachos near me. I’ve always enjoyed nachos since I was a child, and I suddenly had a taste for the dish. This local establishment was very clean and professional. I was greeted with a smile as soon as I approached the door. The gentleman was very helpful In helping me decide my proteins and drink flavor. I order the nachos mixtas. I love spicy food, so I requested their spicy sauce on the side. The nachos were delicious. They did not appear as the typical nachos I’ve had, but I would give the dish a solid 9.3 out of 10. The blends of sauces were so good. The steak was well seasoned as was the shrimp! The chips were fresh, and I believe made In house. I was filled for all under $20

I would suggest anyone to try the Madarin Jaritos and nachos mixtas!

Well this is an unfortunate review I wish didn't have to write. I ordered food from there, takeout on Monday March 10th 2024. About an hour after eating a few tacos and some pupusa. My wife and I started to feel ill. We ended up having food poisoning for the last 2 days. I won't get into details obviously but it was horrendous. Never in my life have I had food poisoning. Honestly, before getting sick, I cannot say that the food was great by any means. There are plenty of better places around. The meat in the tacos seemed a bit dry and no great flavor. And the pupusa was lackluster and did not come with any shredded cabbage. For me, pupusa without cabbage is a fail.

I wouldn't be ordering the food again regardless of us getting sick.. based off of us both getting sick I wouldn't recommend going here. I'm extremely disappointed...
