My husband and I spent 1-night at the Floral Park Motel. We’d just landed JFK. It was 7:00am, we were tired, and we needed a bed and a shower. The front desk fellow was very kind and accommodating. He held a 1-room king for us. We paid a $60 fee for an early check-in. We expected that. ||The front desk area is surrounded in protective glass. Supposedly it’s been that way for 20 years so it isn’t Covid related. You may be worried that you’re in a bad neighborhood. This is not the case. It’s a working class neighborhood that has seen a lot of changes over the years a local mentioned.||The furniture in the lobby has seen better days. You’re not sleeping in the lobby. |There are 2 buildings. Not sure why, but I concluded that the building with the front desk is the building you want to stay in. ||Our 2nd floor room faced Remsens Lane with a view overlooking the Advance Auto Parts parking lot across the street. There were large trees too. I didn’t mind it.||The room is dated but clean. Basic in fact. Plenty of hot water and very good pressure. Plenty of towels. Blow dryer. Those thin retro motel bars of soap. That’s it. On-line photos of toiletries offered is misleading. The bed was comfortable. Good AC. WIFI is okay, not the fastest. A small yet roomy fridge. No microwave. Antennae TV. Some funky smells in hallway/stairwell. We didn’t have a car but there is parking on site. Convenience stores, restaurants line 30 Jericho Turnpike plus you’re on a bus line (N #24) as well as the MTA buses into the city. All in all it served our needs. Should we find ourselves in need again for a 1-night accommodation, for the purpose of a solid sleep & a good shower we would stay again. The price all told was $225. I don’t think you can beat it. It’s...
Read moreI’m here to visit my longtime (50+ years/from Rolla JHS!!!)/good friend KJ [not only decades of comms, but also contact; he rescued me from the fantastic Campbell River General Hospital/Vancouver IslandBC-CANADA, he/wife have given me/both my children overnights around the conterminous 48; he is particularly gifted at adolescent misadventures…]! Anyway, they are now homeowners in beautiful BrooklynNY-USA, which became the turnaround point during my “Fourth Annual First Quarter Odyssey: East Coast/BrooklynNY”. Being fairly ignorant of this area, my primary concern was safety for my (motor)vehicle. After several hours searching TripAdvisor/google suggestions/reviews, I was satisfied with this fine motel. The reality is that the parking is extremely satisfying; alas, it us simultaneously extremely distant from their beautiful Brooklyn home☹️.
Due to my being (slightly) disabled, I requested a ground floor room, which reception accommodated by assigning me king bed/non-smoking room 132. The bed is big, but too soft for me—I may end up on the floor for the best needed firm support. There is a small floor change between the bedroom and bathroom, which could be a tripping hazard. I was surprised to see that there is no microwave in the room, though there are the usual accouterments of flat screen/mini-fridge. I’m pleased with the number of electrical outlets—important for all the electronics we (8+ billion) carry with us consistently now. Also, I need to recharge the eBatteries for my eBike! The hot water comes up very quickly and is very hot. The greatest downside is the distance between Brooklyn and Floral Park. Other than that, this is quite a satisfactory overnight, and has my coveted “iWheel...
Read moreMan, o man! Where do i even begin with this junkyard! I will begin with the staff. You would have thought this was there first day at work. When I came in, they said i didn't have a reservation nor was there anyone checked into that room number. (which, long story short, my wife had already checked in and was at this "motel" for 2 days and told me the room number, also keep in mind we have the same last name and the reservation was under my name in the first place) Not that big of a deal, she was on her way back. Strike 1.
Strike 2: If you enjoy week old donuts, stale cereal, off-colored milk, and eating from a vending machine for breakfast, then this is the place for you.
Strike 3: Bed was squeaky and lopsided (def old), the air conditioner was loud, shower gets luke warm at max, toilet works sort of, musty smell, and the walls are paper thin.
Strike 4 (because everyone deserves the benefit of the doubt): Billing! Wow! Talk about price gouging and charging multiple times for the exact same stay. Let's just say that if you dont go ahead and prepay for the room rate that you booked under, they will magically tack on an additional $30-$40 claiming that was the rate that was booked. I would suggest that you also take a look at your bank statement because you will find that they charged you multiple times.
To put it very nicely, this place is ran by lying, deceitful, dishonest, and rude individuals. Get ready for a massive headache if you decide to stay here. You have...
