Great food and some of the best bagels in the area. I love how friendly the staff is and the general ambiance of the store. My only complaint is that a lot of times the bagel can be too big for the food and they put all the good stuff right in the center so by the time you get to the ends you're just eating bread. Same goes with spreading out cream cheese. Overall, still my favorite bagel place in Astoria.
Side note: If you get a smoothie, make sure you get it from the dark haired girl (head barista) or the manager as any of the other staff usually makes me what most closely resembles an Icee.
Also note to management: You guys need a better way of giving your patrons water. I come here every Saturday (sometimes more) and have had to start bringing my own water since you make it so hard to get it from the staff. (They're usually busy making everyone else's drinks and its hard to get their attention to get a cup of water which is usually miniature compared to your massive bagels). Would be amazing if you installed a water cooler or something to fill up a water bottle.
Edit: brought down to a 3 because of the inconsistency of good bagels. The ratios are typically off, sometimes I don't even get cheese or bacon in my bacon egg and cheese at all. Also because our bagels are often split between 2 people (so we both get some BE&C and C.C. bagels) they are often very unevenly cut - which always leaves me with 20% of a bagel when I should be...
Read moreUpdate: only one of few places in my area where you can grab some decent breakfast. There is a new staff there, although I see the owner quite often. He is really involved in his business, thumbs up for that. Once after big flooding I saw him cleaning the venue, big respect for that!!! Hard working environment all in all, we have to appreciate this industry! In addition, today one of the girls went above and beyond: they didn't have a single origin coffee, but she told me that she will take care of me. And that's a customer service, not just order taking. Way to go, girl!
They have a little patio/structure outside on the street. Indoor tables, with no distance restrictions any more. No mask requirements. No social distancing. Various spread flavors, including variety of bagels. Generally, this is a clean venue. Unisex restrooms available. They have pastries, fresh squeezed juices, cakes, soups, frappes, flavored ice teas, and many other items. A little bit pricy though, but quality is there. The only thing I've notice is that they change staff members quite...
Read moreUpdate: I went in and got a dozen bagels on Saturday. They must have fished them out of the garbage - they were "hard" by the next day. This place will serve you OLD HARD & STALE BAGELS.
I ordered a bacon and egg sandwich, no cheese. They put American Cheese on it. I had to throw it away and didnt have time to go back.
I asked the young woman behind the counter if they served smoked salmon or LOX. she looked at me as though I was completely irrational and with SO MUCH attitude lets me know they are the "same thing". She should not be working at a bagel shop.
I don't know why I try coming back here, I'd rather walk 15 minutes to another shop just to avoid these clowns.
My biggest problem is how overpriced it is. I also don't like the new front of house staff. Attitude from the teenagers... just trying to spend $42 on 3 bagel sandwiches.
Highly recommend bagel on the ave for customer service and...
