This review is coming from someone who has been visiting Norma's since 2014, not long after they opened. It was a triumph that from 2014- early 2020 the Ranchero was only $5-$6.50. However during Covid, the prices shot up and I also feel the quality went down. It's easy to blame this on inflation or the supply chain issues, but this happened prior and prices are not going to come down from $8. It's really a reflection of the neighborhood changing and the gentrification. Also the renovation was a mixed bag, the kitchen needed more space, but now the cafe vibe is gone. It was always busy on the weekends, but was a solid spot during the week to hang. Norma's is still a solid place, but not what it once was.

Great atmosphere and coffee, but their kitchen needs a lot of work dishing out food; the average wait time for any sandwich is about 20 mins (times from previous until now), they seem to always be out of ingredients or they just don't put all the elements in the sandwich. In the picture below their is supposed to be eggs, but there are none, and literally ever time I order a sandwich from here there's something missing... A real shame cause I like this place, but the kitchen is a huge disappointment. Moreover, I wouldn't recommend their sandwiches, but their pastries are good and so is there coffee.

I love this place for their food or coffee so its not easy for me to leave this review. I’m so disappointed about their matcha, It shouldn’t be sold as matcha as it reminds nothing of it and is not ceremonial grade. It’s some sort of cheap sugary mix and the color and taste is so unpleasant. To comparison I have added the picture of their matcha and any other place that has the right type of matcha (ceremonial grade matcha - what matcha actually should look like). I hope my constructive feedback will be considered as it’s ridiculous to charge matcha price for this cheap full of sugar mix.

Norma's is a cute, quintessential little piece of New Ridgewood, so to speak, and is easily one of the better coffee shops in the neighborhood.

The cozy red hummingbird-stamped awning is very much representative of the shop's ambience. Inside, the tables, layout, and decor fit seamlessly in with the neighborhood and, combined with the personable nature of the service, convey a down-home feel. It's a nice place to sit and work or relax for a couple of hours, if you can find a spot.

The breakfast sandwiches are fantastic - my favorite being the Ultimate Ranchero - and, for the carnivorous among us, the spicy bacon is a must-add to any sandwich that doesn't already have it. The constantly-rotating seasonal sweets selection is dangerously irresistible. Seriously. Every time you grab a coffee you'll be taking home something for later with you. Dieters be warned.

Downsides! Can be a bit pricey, both in general but especially if you can't maintain your self-control around their goodies. Also, I wish there was a way they could fit more seating in. The tables tend to stay full (or occasionally annoyingly being taken up by one person at a two-person table). Outdoor tables are hit or miss depending on the day and traffic.

Generally, if you're in the neighborhood and craving some breakfast, baked goods, or coffee to go, there's no reason not to check...

coffee is good and food is delicous, however i got shocked by ordering my breakfast over the phone this morning. when somebody pick up the phone, i said hi, can i order fully loaded, i will pick up later. she asked what color bread i want, i told her basket。she said pick up 10 minites and rememeber to say good morning next time. i was busy on dress up to get work, is anything wrong for me not to say good moring? is it mondatary to say good morning, good afternoon, good evening when u place a order? she said you dont have to come to here, after i request to speack to the owner, she told me she is the manager, she is incharge, and the other employee say F word to me in every sentence. when i dont say good morning they say is rude, do they think they are not rude when they say F word to a customer?i am not a trouble customer, and i have been shopping there for 3 years, i always place order, pay, get the food and leave, never say anything or do anything else. After i spoke to owner, i feel the owner is well educated person, understadable and reasonable person. however , the employee is not deserve manager position, she should be replaced by someone who is really know how to handle customer service and create the good reputation for...

We used to frequent this spot when my girlfriend lived just a couple of blocks away. It was our go-to breakfast place, one that didn’t leave you feeling guilty after eating.

Since we were back in the neighborhood, we decided to drop by. It's been a few years, and there were a lot of new faces. All the outdoor seating was taken, but they bring your order to you when it’s ready, so no big deal. We ordered three breakfast sandwiches and an iced latte.

After ordering, I noticed a sign by the cashier mentioning they have a small kitchen and orders might take a while when it’s busy. I didn’t think much of it since we were the only ones ordering at the time. But then it did get busy, and it ended up taking 45 minutes to nearly an hour to get our three sandwiches—which I thought was wild! I’ve seen smaller spots push out orders faster than this place.

I don’t mind waiting if the food’s worth it, but it wasn’t. There was no seasoning at all—salt and pepper seemed nonexistent. The eggs looked like they’d been microwaved. For the price they’re charging, I expected more, especially after that long wait. Honestly, we should’ve just gone to the bodega...
