We had our engagement party here and while our guests enjoyed ourselves, we certainly did not. I had spent months planning this, just for it to be a nightmare. We were told the day of (actually, about three hours before our party started) that we were not allowed in the party room until a half hour before our party began. I was thinking that was a little tight, but we would make it work. We arrived right at 7:30, as we were asked to, and there were 3-4 tables of people eating their dinner in the private party room where our engagement party was about to begin. One was right in the middle of the room so walking around them without hitting them was nearly impossible. We were told the justification for this was that they did not want to have these tables wait for available tables - but it was okay to have my 74 guests wait in 20-something degree weather outside while these folks finished their dinner. In fact, when we told the owner the next day, he said, "So your guests had to wait outside for an extra 15 minutes? Tough." My grandmother is 85 years old and my great aunts and uncle are around the same. They cannot just wait outside in February weather at night like that. Some of the tables I needed were never set up (i.e., cake, escort cards). We had to just make it work with other tables. We asked them not to play music in that room, especially the birthday song that is played in the other dining room. We weren't celebrating a birthday so it was not appropriate. Towards the end when we cut our cake, the staff played random mariachi music even when we asked them not to multiple times. Our cake was not served until about 5 minutes before the party when most of our guests had already left. The cake was two tiers with different flavors, one being my fiance's favorite and the other being my favorite. My fiance never got to have a piece of his cake at the party and we never received the leftovers of that tier. At the end of the night, we were handed a bill while the managers had conveniently left. It was for 85 people, when we only had 74. The owner's justification was that 85 people was the minimum for the room, but there is absolutely nothing that states that. In fact, we were under the impression that 85 was the maximum. I was also told multiple times that parties of 60-70 are more comfortable in the private party room. I've had many parties in other restaurants and have NEVER had this type of experience where I felt we were treated like animals. The cherry on this? The owner told my fiance that he was the calm one, unlike his crazy fiancee or future mother-in-law. I will not apologize for being upset that this was a nightmare due to the restaurant and have not personally received any type of apology. My fiance received an apology of an offer of a complementary dinner for 10. So, I will never return here nor would I ever suggest it to anyone looking to have a party at any of the locations. This was an engagement party where we could celebrate a huge step and happy time in our lives, not a joke like the entire staff here, from the top to the down, were treating it, and I can never look back on our engagement party with a smile. I only get angry, the complete opposite of what I...
Read moreWent over a year ago for a reserved anniversary party of 14 guests on a Saturday at 8pm. Waited an hour, despite reservations, in the cold March weather under a vinyl patio covering with very little seating. They have no business over booking their floor just to make more money at the expense of their diners who are paying a higher price for the "experience". The dining room is a joke, there is not enough room to pass by most of the other seated guests. Service and guests have no choice but to push and shove their way through the dinning floor. I'd be interested to know what their actual seated capacity is supposed to be, because they must exceed it on weekends. Family style was ordered in advance for the party and I'm not sure if the party I was with ordered off menu, but there was no other vegetable served besides one course of eggplant, it was all seafood, meat, pasta and pizza. Had to ask for a side of broccoli rabe to balance out the courses. The food is great, don't get me wrong, but the wait staff is in such a hurry to move through the courses, they basically expect you to cram the food down your throat to be ready for the next course in 5-10 minutes, which is once again, due to their over booking. They remove the food from the table, bringing the next course, before over half of the party was even finished eating the prior course... this was done for every single course! Open wine and sangria was already on the table when we arrived, but we like to drink. It was difficult to flag someone down to get more wine and ice water. I had to wait about a half an hour after asking three different waiters until some finally arrived. If you want a nice, calm atmosphere, this is not the place for you!! The terrible music blares badly over blown speakers and you cannot convince me that it's someone's birthday in the place every 10 minutes. They have the most obnoxious birthday song they play and everyone is strongly encouraged by the staff to whip their napkins around in the air, twirling them wildly. Due to the lack of space, if you have children with you, be prepared to get smacked in the face, over and over until you get fed up and have to take the napkin away, which only leads to crying because they see the rest of the floor all doing it. Be prepared to leave with a headache from the crazy blaring music that guests have to scream over just to hear each other over all the dining room noise. So to recap, disgusting wait even with reservations, be prepared to be treated like cattle by the service and be crammed into a ridiculously noisy, crowded area and not allowed to digest the food, which is admittedly the only thing worth while about this place. But honestly, the food was not good enough to compensate for everything else bad about this place for...
Read moreMy husband and I stopped for a "quick bite" after work, as I was in mood for Italian food. Needless to say, the "quick bite" turned to a small feast. This is the first time that we have dined at Patrizia's of Brooklyn, in Staten Island. But surely it will not be the last. After we were seated, we were greeted right away with a taste of cheese croquet balls and a bread basket accompanied by herb-olive-oil and grated parmesan cheese. We opted for the bottle of the house wine, that is very reasonably priced and very tasty; almost like chianti/montepulciano. The dinner started with a simple green salad with shaved Parmigiano Regiano cheese and main course was Fettuccine Carbonara and Pizza Quatro Stagioni. I can still taste the wood fire charred dough pizza crust, with a cup of wine. Delicioso! We were full, so i ordered an espresso coffee to conclude. In the meantime, the main guy overseeing all the service approached us and asked how was our experience. Describing all the above, we said that we were full and this was as much as we could intake. When, shortly after, the server came with a tray of zeppole and tap glass of panettone soaked in goodnes cream and melted chocolate, saying that we couldn't leave the table without a sweet treat. This place's generosity of people and deliciousness of food is a true treat. Tantissimi grazie a tutti. We will...
