A tale of poultry spread across the land, a tale of a new Pelicana location opening in Bayside. I heed the whispers and allow the winds to take me to Pelicana... and the rumors were true... but what the whispers did not mention, was that the service would be a torture on my honor and soul. Upon reaching the establishment, the hostess had inquired my guild if we would like to be seated outside or inside... That was my first concern. For context, the front wall was comprised entirely out of a folding glass wall and it was in the fully opened position. When fully opened, the interior and exterior gets blended together, inside and outside ceases to be a binary, and becomes a spectrum. Perhaps we should have been asked how much inside or how much outside would best suit our comforts. This incident already proved a lack of understanding of the spatial dynamics of the architecture. However, I remain unfazed and dignified, I play along and say “outside, please.” then bite my tongue before I instinctually expose the folly of the question. My guild was told that there would be a 20 minute wait, which no one had any qualms with at the time. As the sands flowed through the hourglass, we noticed multiple tables outside clear up, more than enough to accompany my party of 5. My imagination led me to believe it would be a simple arrangement, connecting the two smaller tables together to seat us. But, I felt a cold, stabbing in my heart as I watched a smaller party that arrived over 15 minutes after we got seated on just one of the two tables previously mentioned. This left behind a single unused table that remained open for the remaining time we waited. This felt like our birthright being denied, an inheritance being stolen. Not only was this a complete betrayal and a disservice, It was also wildly inefficient. The longer we waited… the deeper we were digging our own graves. We expected our patience to be rewarded but it only brought more misfortune. We stood by, holding back our tears of blood, watching every single party that came after us being cared for while we remained in the shadows. After we idled in pain well over 1.5 hours, and had many parties skip us in the queue, we came to the realization that we were not in the Gods’ favor that evening. We retreated back to our chambers with empty stomachs and...
Read moreThis one is for you Elizabeth. I placed an UberEats order Monday, August 11th. Crispy Wings 10pcs with Garlic Seasoning (tossed) and French Fries (S) with Cajun Seasoning. UberEats did their job, brought me the food on time. When I opened the food, the chicken came as crispy plain wings and NOT the garlic wings. I called Pelicana Bayside because this is their kitchen fault for not reading the ticket as per Crispy Fried Wings GARLIC. I just wanted to eat some garlic wings.
Elizabeth picked up the phone, told me that I need to take it up with UberEats and ask for a refund I said “no I want to eat Garlic Wings.” She called back and said that UberEats should have reissued a refund which still hasn’t come. I said I don’t want a refund, I just wanted Garlic wings and I said I can come pick up because I don’t mind I live close by. She said word for word “you would need to bring back the plain crispy wings so we can swap you for the garlic wings.” Oh em geez. Thats like saying you go to restaurant and server makes mistake drops food on wrong table and people started already eating it.. you gonna take it back and swap for the correct order midway?
This was handled poorly. I was not trying to get money back. It was your kitchen fault for this mistake and I made myself very clear that what I wanted was garlic wings, you failed to try and understand that and suggested for a refund from UberEats or come back with a half eaten crispy wings which I’m sure you would have just thrown out for a new garlic wings order. Aiyahh…. Thanks though for your apology and your willingness to get my refund from...
Read moreThe customer service is a joke. Uber Eats doesn't allow you to order soy fried wings but Seamless does. So I called in today (4/2/21 around 1:30pm) to ask if soy fried wings were available as my kids love them. I was told that they were by the female employee who picked up the phone. I asked if they could then 1.) reach out to Uber Eats to simply get this menu item updated or 2.) allow me to place an order on the regular wings and leave a comment to have them be prepared as soy fried wings. The female employee said that I would need to reach out to Uber Eats directly as they could not take an order for regular wings and prepare them as soy fried wings as this would somehow mess up their inventory figures. (Really?!?)
I told her that Uber Eats doesn't have a phone number to call directly and requested to speak to her manager to see if someone more accommodating could resolve the issue. She said that she doesn't know when the manager would be available and even if he was, he wouldn't know how to fix the issue (just tell me that you don't want to do your job). She also refused to provide me with her name as she was obviously afraid of getting in trouble.
My wife spoke to her in Korean and she was still adamant that nothing could be done to fix the situation.
I'm completely bewildered by the lack of training and sheer incompetence of this employee. The restaurant's management could care less about customer service. Please hire and train people who actually care about...
