Two part review:
Part 1 - 6/18/2019
Pho choice, a welcomed addition to the Fresh Meadows neighborhood. A restaurant that touts itself as a Chinese & Vietnamese restaurant. June 18, 2019 a soft opening of sorts, it's raining out and what's not better than having a hot bowl of Pho with Fresh Ribeye, Brisket, Tendon, and Tripe. A small order of Spring rolls and a Vietnamese Iced Coffee to wash it all down. To start off the medium sized bowl of noodles provides a good portion of noodles, the meat they offer is indeed fresh though they did skimp on the tripe and tendon additions. The broth for the pho noodles was quite light and clear, a break from the MSG laden pho broths you often see. I would have liked the bowl they serve the noodles in to be larger, it was exceptionally difficult to navigate my way around the bowl with the addition of fresh beans sprouts and basil provided. The noodles were a bit on the chewy side but I believe that can be worked out with more broth in a larger bowl. Onto the spring rolls, they were fried to perfection and on point, they come served with extra lettuce and a fish sauce accoutrement for dipping. The vietnamese iced coffee comes in a decent size as it is served in a mason jar like cup, it was a bit watered down. I enjoyed my meal despite the little issues I saw here and there and will be giving this restaurant another go in the near future to see if they improve on some points. The staff was very friendly and attentive.
Part 2 - 6/20/2019
Take out- Grilled pork chop with rice & and a order of Basil and Clams.
The grilled pork chops were cooked to perfection, you can see they actually grill the meat on an open flame or perhaps finish the cooking process on top of the grill to get those nice sear marks on the pork chop. They fall a little short on the rice, it would be nice if the pork chops were accompanied by the combination of broken rice, I felt the rice they use to be extra starchy and needed more water perhaps.
Basil & Clams- The sauce is a sweet and refreshing delight with the addition of fresh basil however that's the only selling point for this dish as the clams I had were not fresh. They gave off a odd sour taste and after trying a few I ultimately gave up on this promising dish. I hope they can control the quality of their ingredients and succeed as there arent many vietnamese restaurants in this neighborhood.
I will give this restaurant another try and try their other listed items on...
Read moreIf I could give it zero stars I WOULD.I have ordered delivery 4 times from this restaurant and ate one time in person.Everytime I call to make an order, the woman on the phone raises her voice when I’m talking and scoffs when I take time to say what I want. When the food gets delivered, the delivery person yells at me and scolds me for not tipping ( mind you I have made it clear to them that I’m a teenager with no job, therefore I can’t tip).It got to the point that I had my 9 year old sister take the food from the delivery guy herself because they wouldn’t yell at a child, which they ended up doing anyways.Last month I went to the restaurant with my cousin because I have never had a dine-in experience and wanted my first time to be pho. This place is also conveniently close to my house which is why I went there specifically. In four simple words, the service was horrible. We waited 10 minutes for a server to take our orders while getting weird looks from the staff. You could literally see the staff come out from the kitchen to glance at us and huddle together.Mind you,we were the only table at the time.We were being polite while talking to server but the server was rushing us and kept rolling her eyes when my cousin wouldn’t be able to pronounce the menu.Again we were the only table. After the waiter took our order, she walked back to the huddle staff and started laughing while looking at us for 5 minutes before going to kitchen. While we were eating, one of staff sat at the table in front of us and had full eye contact with me during the whole time we were there..After 30 minutes, our waiter came and told us that they have a 40 minute policy for dine ins and that we had ten more minutes.AGAIN,WE WERE THE ONLY ONES THERE.It felt humiliating so we just paid and left with finishing our food.Fast forward, I order delivery today and while I taking my order from the delivery girl, she yells at me and say that they’re not going to deliver to me again because I don’t tip and I explained to her that I don’t have enough money to tip because I am a teen with out a job (Not the first time I have told them that). She then said if I don’t have enough money then I shouldn’t buy from them and just left.Honestly I have many bad experiences with this restaurant, but this was my last straw. I am warning you,don’t...
Read moreI had an appointment in the area and it being lunar new year and Tết I decided to treat my self. I ordered the fresh shrimp pho and the pan fried vegetable dumplings. My friend had the chicken pad Thai. The pho was huge! Juicy pieces of shrimp, lots of veggies like broccoli and carrots, and the broth was tasty. Ordering in their direct site was cheaper than seamless by like $10 so definitely use their site. The site didn’t really say much as to what came in the sip and I almost paid to add the veggies but good thing I didn’t. There was LOTS packed in that bowl. The onions were a great addition and added some flavor to the soup. Parking in the area isn’t the greatest but I was able to find a spot out front long enough to run in, pay, and get out. The employees were pleasant and greeted me. Made a little small talk and quickly processed my ordered. My food was waiting for me at the door and was still hot after my drive all the way back home. I did notice quite a few full tables when I went in. The vibe was lowkey and clean. The patrons looked like they were enjoying their food and the overall space. I’d...
