I came on the day of the switch 2 preorder release and knew people who went in to preorder, and I noticed how it was hectic and busy for this gamestop. Brian the manager was very knowledgeable in providing information along with a list of extra accessories and gave me several options to choose from, it was never presented to me as if I HAD to buy everything, it was encouraged as some things were limited but NEVER required. I have always had an amazing experience anytime I visit. I think some Customers were frustrated over the long wait times, as was I, but that is a part of life. It was understood going in, and other people may have misunderstood. but my experience was one where I had options and knowledge.
In addition to the games, Brian's knowledge of pokemon is amazing. There are alot of good card shops in the neighborhood with a much larger variety of cards. However, I keep coming to this gamestop because I trust brian. Trusting someone to handle my $1000 PSA submissions is hard to do. Especially with the influx in the hobby and the constant scamming. He is the only person at this location, or any other gamestop in the burrows capable of handling these types of orders. If he were to leave at any point in time, I feel gamestop would loose alot revenue, including mine.
I visit this store every week, and the idea of Brian being anything but excellent would be mind-boggling. I find any issues at this location falls on the customer. I have overheard some of the harshest people lashing out at Brian, and not a single time was he ever rude to anyone. In fact, he will do his best to get you even more deals and save you as much money as possible.
Now regarding gamestop as a company. It is 2025. gamestop has been around for a long time. If you are shocked about how they as a company handle buying and selling used consoles and games, you would have to be either naive or purposely trying to start problems. For as far back as I remember, the running joke was gamestop buying games for $2-$20 dollars and they resell it for $40-$50. For any young people reading this, Believe it or not, this may come as a shocker, but that is how business works.....(shocking!!!). Do I agree with it no, However, being in this amazing country, we have what are called options! If you don't like the service or can get a better deal somewhere else, then DONT GOOOO. It's really not that hard of a concept.
I find it extremely cruel that people can lash out at a staff memeber, because of rules and policies that come from much higher up. If you fall in this category...
Read moreTried GameStop after years of not going and I will never do business with them again and I knew going was a waste of time. Came in to do a trade in for a perfectly fine ps5 console that I rarely used as quick trade in credit as $330 seemed reasonable for store credit for trade in. Girl who worked front was very polite but seemed completely clueless for any normal console trade in process. She had gone back and forth with mgr who must have had a lunch break? In the back asking questions on what to do. Finally after waiting for 20 minutes they tell me trade in credit is $120 since the console had a rattle when u move the console. It’s the most common thing on any console and has nothing to do with performance. They tested it, magnified it put everything under a Microscope saying it works but according to their “system” the rattle brought credit down $110 in value. After I refused trade in mgr(Hispanic guy curly hair) caught an attitude saying I wasted an hour of their time. Bro u held me hostage on your employees cluelessness and wasn’t even long u guys are just trash crooks. Please stay away from these greedy business practices. No wonder GameStop is closing everywhere. People should not be fooled by their horrible trade in values. Went on eBay sold the console in an hour for $330 making $262 after shipping and fees.    Read moreI had a very negative experience trying to return an item at the Gamestop located on 188th Street in Fresh Meadows on 6/16/24 The cashier, who appeared to be new, seemed unsure about the return process and was unable to scan my receipt because the printer printed it as faded (the cashier apologized for this when he handed me the receipt on 6/10). The manager or supervisor was called over to assist, but he was unhelpful and even tried to give me false information about the return policy, just to avoid processing the return. He claimed that if my purchase was a week ago, I was outside the return window, claiming a 7-day return window is actually 6 days. However, the return policy is clearly stated as 15-days, on the receipt. The manager also asked me several unnecessary questions about my return, including why I would purchase the item if I wanted to return it now, and collected my personal information (Name, Zip code, phone number) without explaining why he needed it. Overall, this was a very disappointing experience. The staff at this Gamestop location were rude and unprofessional, and I would not recommend shopping there (they actually just wrapped up an argument with another customer...
