I went today (Saturday noon) with my wife who is Colombian born and raised, despite the bakery portion having had an absurdly long line the restaurant was pretty empty. The food took forever to come out and when it did come out, it was small parts of the same dish spread out over 10-15 minutes each. On top of that there was no menu for the breakfast dishes. The quality was absurdly poor. We go to Colombian restaurants all the time but never had encounter freezing cold chorizo, oily tasteless hot chocolate, dry from sitting eggs and “authentic” ajiaco with no avocado but instead was given a sort of cole slaw. When the soup arrived we had to stand up and get our own spoon because regardless of asking was never brought.
We called the only waitress they had working over, which for a Saturday brunch time is insane, to explain our dislikes of the food and she explained to us that she had to call the owner to talk to us cause she was the only one on the floor and he was just harassing her over and over. The owner, with very questionable hygiene, came to us and while I was explaining our issues with the food responded to us in English then when my wife expressed her part also in English, he switched to Spanish to tell her “hey little girl, we’re here to talk and not to punch each other and we just opened..” (which I did not know until we left) with complete disregard of me being there and trying to sneakily condescend my pregnant wife. After she corrected him, he said he was gonna comp most of the food and proceeded to the cashier to laugh with the rest of the equally unpleasant and unhygienic looking managing staff, and after 5 minutes of siting waiting for the modified check still nothing. the couple in the table next to us that also didn’t finish their food due to lack of quality approached us and said “we’ve been here waiting for our check since you guys sat down” so we called the waitress again and she told us we could just go, we gladly did so. They invested apparently a lot of money in the looks of the place but know absolutely nothing about service, the bakery goods are ok but the restaurant food is probably the worst Colombian food we’ve had in NYC so far. Not only would we Not recommend it here we would recommend NEVER dining there. Parceros bakery is only a few minutes away and is definitely...
