The place is hateful and divisive. The President pretends to have a âsafe spaceâ, but uses the opportunity to spread their own hate to people that have different views, even when those people are being peaceful. Close minded doesnât want to listen to reason, so she shuts down any thought in the belief she might be outsmarted. Yelling with hostility and threats are no way to treat paying customers because they wear an America hat...in America.
At the very least she couldâve refunded the money when kicking them out, I would at least respect her ability to put her belief over money, but she wouldnât give up the money despite cutting the patrons short of their use of the cafe.
I hope the woman in charge here should be removed, not because I have any different beliefs than her, but because of the way she behaved and treated those people. If the cafe treated someone like that and kicked them out for their religion, race, or sexual preference we would see an outlash, this is deserving of one too as the person was kicked out for their hat/beliefs.
Theyâre probably gonna report me because I called the Cafe President a woman/she and thatâs âassuming their genderâ. How can someone be so sensitive to that but not see that treating those customers isnât a proper way to treat someone else. Theyâre...
Read moreAll of the one star review are from people who are either ignorant of what actually happened or ignorant to what persecution actually is. Rods is a great place. Good food. Good coffee. Good people. It is disgusting that they are receiving such a tremendous backlash from people who went in with the intention of being kicked out. I am a Republican and I have never felt unwelcome in this establishment. But if someone goes in with the purpose of being kicked out, of course they will be kicked out because all they need to do is become more and more disruptive until it happens. This is not persecution nor is it fascism. Even if Rods did not set itself up to be a safe space (which it does), the behavior of the College Republicans was inappropriate at best. This is what they were kicked out for, not for having different beliefs or wearing MAGA hats. Do not let this one incident discourage you from going to Rods for a cup of coffee even if you don't tow the standard...
Read moreIâve been going to Rodrigues coffee house for almost 2 years now as a sophomore at Fordham University. As a person that is part of the LGBT+ community I can say that Rodrigues coffee house is the most welcoming and accepting community I have ever been a part of, making friends with people of all different backgrounds with my time at rods. No one working behind the counter has made me feel uncomfortable because of my identity, which is a rarity with the current political nature of the United States and the Trump presidency. With a campus climate such as one like Fordham (a predominantly white, straight, cis, upper middle class institution), rods is one of the only place on campus where I fully feel like my humanity is taken into account before my outward appearance and identity. Coffee is a dollar but love is free at Rodrigues coffee house. And homophobia, racism, classism, neo-nazism...
