I'm one of the original customers. Yes, I am old. Ages ago, S &S was a well kept secret in the catering world. I truly believe they set the standard. My Father was in the food business, and he would bring home the GIANT cheesecakes for parties and family events. It was a special treat. As an adult, I lived with my wife in Riverdale. It was great to be able to get a cake from the Bodega or Candy store on their block. Until recently, I had never seen S & S's gate open, because they worked through the night. I went there 2 days ago and it was a happy sight to see it open, on a very busy street. We also lived in downtown Brooklyn, and I felt that Junior's was all about hype. If it's closed, just look for a sign in the window of a few stores within a block that sell it, you you won't be...
Read moreI ordered a cheesecake to be sent to my sister who I'm visiting. My sister and I have been ordering these same cheesecakes for over 20 years... What a disappointment.. they've obviously changed the recipe.. the crust was weird and kind of greasy.. and the cheesecake was dry and actually crumbly... it looked different... it TASTED old and dry but more than THAT... the recipe has to have changed because the crust even LOOKED different... And.. the cheesecake is at least a pound less than the weight the proclaim... I ordered a five pound cheesecake and the Fedex scale read 4 pounds.. including the box..? Really.?.. I love good cheesecake but I'll be going elsewhere.. it's in the refrigerator and it would normally have been long...
