Say Hi — Restaurant in New York

My friend introduced me to this cozy place in the Flushing area, which she discovered on XiaoHongShu. There are so many great things I loved about it:

The staff and owners are incredibly friendly. They welcomed us like we’d known each other for a long time. To my surprise, I found out that one of the founders is a Taylor Swift fan! He can literally sing every single one of her songs, which made it so enjoyable to have Taylor’s music playing in the background while I sang along with my new friend.

Their food, snacks, and drinks are amazing. I tried their Sichuan beef noodles, dried persimmon walnut rolls, and several small cups of cocktails. It’s clear they put their heart into everything they offer to their customers.

The place itself is so beautiful. It has a modern-traditional Chinese-style decor, with green indoor plants and wood/fabric furniture. Paper art and various tea and drink cups are displayed in different sections, creating a unique and comforting atmosphere. It’s a perfect spot for friends and family gatherings, or even a first date, to enjoy a great time together.

I wish I could give Say Hi a zero-star rating if I could. This was one of the worst tea house experiences I've ever had. First, nearly every tea I wanted to order was out of stock. Second, the staff kept recommending teas that weren't even on the menu, and I had no idea that these off-menu items would cost nearly four times as much as the regular teas listed. To make matters worse, the equipment was malfunctioning. The staff set up the teapot and heater at our table, and we waited almost 15 minutes for the tea to heat up, only to have them come back and realize the heating device wasn’t working at all.

The worst part? The tea they recommended was $40 per pot—way more than the $12-$15 items listed on the menu. We didn’t find out about the inflated price until we got the bill. Total rip-off. I do NOT recommend this place at all. Save your money and go...

If you’re looking for an authentic Chinese experience in New York, this tea house is an excellent choice!
