I really wanted to give Shivram’s Bakery in Richmond Hill a fair chance. I’ve ordered from them several times on Uber Eats, and at first, I was impressed—especially with their baigan choka, which was flavorful and well-prepared. But unfortunately, my overall experience hasn’t lived up to expectations.
One of the major issues is the freshness of their food. Their oil roti, for instance, didn’t taste fresh—it felt like it had been sitting for a while. While their initial pricing was reasonable and affordable, I’ve noticed a sharp increase in prices on Uber Eats recently, which feels like price gouging. For example, an egg ball that used to be $2.50 or $3 is now listed at $4. Their fish cakes, once $1.25, are now $2 each—smaller in size compared to places like Bakewell or Sybils where the portions are larger and prices are better.
Another frustration is that you can’t order baigan choka by itself—you’re forced to order it with roti. It’s disappointing because I genuinely wanted to support a newer business rather than sticking with the more established spots like Singh’s, Brown Betty, Bakewell, or Sybil’s. Singhs has a delicious Baigan Choke for 6.50 and with roti is $9.00.
But with the rapid price increases and lack of flexibility in ordering, it’s hard to justify continuing to order from Shivram’s. Especially when other local favorites offer better value—for example, Bakewell has a large chicken curry with two dall puris for $11, which beats Shivram’s offerings both in quality and price.
Shivram’s had potential, but they’re quickly losing me as a customer. If they want to stay competitive and build loyalty, they need to reconsider their pricing strategy and focus more on consistency...

There are too many other places that make just as good of food and have much better customer...
