This is the best karaoke spot I have found in NYC, after experiencing over 15 other karaoke venues across Queens, Manhattan, and Brooklyn. The main feature that sets this place apart from most karaoke spots is that they use tablets with access to Youtube to choose your songs. This essentially means that your music selection is unlimited, especially across all languages. The majority of karaoke venues have a predetermined selection of music, usually accompanied by an old, dingy manual that you need to keep looking through to find the songs you want. Choosing a karaoke spot with access to Youtube is non-negotiable to really having a good time, and not waste time and energy looking for songs which aren't even available in their catalog. Also, most karaoke places tend not to have the best speakers or microphones. There's always an issue with a microphone not working too properly or its volume being too low, or the speakers being too distorted etc. Also, most small karaoke rooms have only 2 mics. We came here in a party of 6 and got a room for 10, which came with 2 TVs and 4 mics, and all of them were working flawlessly and clearly. The speakers were also excellent, and produced accurate and detailed sound. The staff had also offered us a larger room at no additional cost on the night since they had lots of open availability. We declined because we didn't need so much additional space, but we greatly appreciated the offer. The room was extremely clean and well maintained, without a single noticeable issue. We received disposable microphone covers, which further increased my appreciation for their cleanliness and attention to detail. We also received complimentary popcorn, which was surprisingly very flavorful and a welcome treat! When we were leaving, Luke (the owner) offered to take a picture of our group which would be hung on their wall, where they have pictures from multiple groups of people who have visited over the years. I thought this was a really nice touch to commemorate the good times people share with their friends! Luke was also simply great to talk to, and very welcoming and appreciative of our patronage. From now on, I'll only be coming here for karaoke if I can help it!
Additional notes: Singing Karaoke Club is located in a strip mall, so there's plenty of parking available in the lot. It's also not too difficult to find street parking the neighborhood either.
Pricing here is slightly more expensive than the majority of karaoke places I've been to, but you absolutely get what you pay for, considering the cleanliness, attention to detail, modern technology, and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreUpdate: Went back for a friend's birthday party and was not charged for water! 5 stars
First off, the place itself was great, staff pretty cool, rooms and atmosphere perfect for karaoke! I went here for my birthday with family and friends (they offer split bills up to three ways I believe), and we did wind up waiting for our reservation but we weren't charged obviously and were placed in a waiting room so it was nice, some people may complain about waiting but my group and myself were content with the accommodations! They set up the room for my birthday, they offer mic covers, and they have fun little games on the table in the room if you want to try them out.
Now to the actual experience: So they use youtube premium for the karaoke selections, which I'll admit I was a little disappointed for the first minute. But this is better! You can find songs that aren't in most karaoke spots, the queue can be seen easily, and everyone knows how to use Youtube (for the most part) so it's just better overall. But it was set to Korean, I mean YouTube is easy enough to navigate with the symbols and anyone who used it a few times before so not a big deal, and if you ask the staff, they're more than happy to assist!
We, 10 people, stayed for 3 hours and with taxes and gratuity, it came out to 409 in change, it averaged under 14 an hr per person (13 and some change), about 7 bucks of that was from a redbull that someone charged to the room (You have the option to charge to the room or pay for drinks and food up at the main desk/bar!). All in all, that's decent pricing for late night karaoke! The soju drinks are the typical bottles you can get from the store and come out to just under 20 a bottle after taxes and gratuity, the expected price of a drink nowadays, just be prepared for that!
I had an extremely pleasant experience here and would definitely come back. But then why the 3 stars? The ONLY reason I'm giving 3 stars is because they only have bottled water. So you have to pay for it. It's a simple ethics/principle issue, I believe any establishment that promotes drinking should have the option of tap water. Gotta keep your guests hydrated if you're going to push drinking! The water came out to about 3.50 a bottle, which is a bit high, in my opinion. I can also understand if they don't have potable water, but still, having someone pay for water when you sell alcohol, unless it's a deli or liquor store, is not promoting responsible drinking. That's the only thing that bothered me. Still, great...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreoverdue review buttttt, went here last night and it was amazing! luke was THE MAN! I loved his vibes and you could tell he loves this job. I also enjoy the polaroid wall and I def look forward to coming back!
hereās some objective feedback:
pros (not in any specific order): -great variety of drinks and food, more mainstream than the other places Iāve went to. didnāt order food, tho -uses youtube system since we werenāt korean, apparently the karaoke system mainly has korean songs. zero complaints bc it worked beautifully! -clean, welcoming environment with minimal scent (I donāt know if itās just the other places I went to, but this is a huge pro in comparison) -great karaoke sound system -fun party games included: jenga + spin the wheel with options like truth/dare, take a shot, etc. we didnāt get to play, but itās a great option to have!! -wonderful staff :)
cons (in this order): (before i begin, notice the five stars!! I truly think this is a great place and itās all about the company you bring, anyway. thus, please take these with a huge grain of salt. Iām just trying to be as objective as possible but the pros outweigh the cons for sure)
-although the youtube system is great, it also means that youāre at the mercy of youtube karaoke videos. not bad at all if u stick to mainstream songs, tho!! -could hear music from outside. not sure if it was from another room -periodic, loud sound?? it sounded like some sort of beeping but I donāt know how to explain it. It only happened every so often, and tbh I enjoyed our experience so much that I didnāt even bother to let them know. so this may not be the norm!!!
lastly, thanks luke for being an absolute gentlemen :)...
