I frequent this bar because itās in my neighborhood and I have been a loyal patron up until this point. Iāve been served by Derek three times and his attitude has never been nice to me or others. On 1/25/24 Bartender DEREK , age 55, started closing the establishment around 1am when closing is in fact at 2. By 1:30 my brother and I were being forced out because āNo one is here, you can say what you want to say and I donāt care. Iām not Katie, I close when I want; itās raining you have to get out.ā To be referred to as ānobodyā when I religiously support this establishment is a complete slap in the face and utterly disrespectful. Katie is the bartender that normally serves me and she is one of the kindest people Iāve ever met. When I asked for her, Derek was not pleased and said that she doesnāt work on Thursdays, as if I didnāt have a right to ask for her. I noticed another customer trying to order and ask questions, as she was not from the area and being that it was her first time, she was inquisitive. DEREK had the most dismissive countenance toward a first time patron and it made me so uncomfortable, I felt the need to engage in conversation with her, to show her that Brooklyn has a better reputation than what Derek was displaying. When my brother ordered a shandy, Derek refused to serve him until I repeated the order. I ordered two drinks and a shotā before I could sip the second drink, he slaps a to go cup in front of me and never brought the shot. Other employees can attest to my tolerance of alcohol, so that was not the issue. Derek simply did not want to be there. The point of going to a bar is to unwind from the stress of the dayā my life is hard as it is, why am I being bullied by a bartender that clearly does not want to work at the establishment in which he is employed? Why are business hours not consistent with google? If I want to tell people about my neighborhood bar, should I tell them not to go on Thursdays to avoid being disrespected? I try to support my people as often as I can but the treatment I received was unacceptable and downright disrespectful. One of the employees from the kitchen even came out and apologized for my experience because āno one likes working with himā. As an establishment in the service industry, Sip n Chat needs employees that give consistent service, and discontinue employees who make paying customers feel like they are ānobodyā. Derek is clearly unhappy in his role as bartender, and paying patrons as well as other employees are having a bad experience as a result....
Ā Ā Ā Read moreBeen there a few times. First time with my bf this weekend and since he's a Hennessy drinker I asked the girl for a cocktail with Hennessy for him. She recommended one and to my surprise when the bill came it actually cost $26. It was a shocker when our bill was $40 higher than our friends who was there almost 2 hrs before us. Now seriously why was the person who had the smallest glass at the table charged $26 a glass? Like idc what else was in that glass with the Hennessy. It's the most ridiculous price ever for a cocktail. They're not any kinda upscale restaurant or anything. š. Food was and always been average. The place is small and between the (good but load) music and other ppl sitting close to you with their loud chatter it's sometimes hard to hear the ones you're actually talking to. Nevertheless the only thing that's makes it special is the cool company you'll go there with. Nothing extra special about the spot. Also when I initially questioned the bill the light skin dude (whom someone said was the owner) was really rude because I touched his shoulder to get his attention. "Get over yourself dude" SMH. Lesson learnt check prices for every single item and I personally won't be...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI visited this restaurant yesterday and it was a pleasure. Located in my neighborhood āLittle Haitiā and is located on Ave D. This spot is soooo chilled, like the vibes is low key lit. The atmosphere is very vibey, sexy and cozy asl and the restaurant is nicely dimmed plus thereās mood lamps at the bar which makes the vibes even more lit. It wasnāt very crowded when I got there but it was a Sunday evening so maybe it was just slow, Iām not sure but this is a great late night spot that you can bring your significant other to and vibe out. The bartender was nice and friendly and the food came out in less than 20 mins and was made to order so it tasted greatš. The prices are definitely affordable and they have a great selection of food options to choose from even for the vegans. Kids friendly as well so you donāt have to leave the kids at home and thereās a wheelchair 𦼠accessible entrance so thatās a plus and thereās a nice fish tank at the front of the restaurant for the fish loversš. DEFF recommend checking this lovely gem out if youāre ever in the neighborhood, I think you...
