Sofia's Taqueria Forest — Restaurant in New York

Last night May 31,2024 I arrived at Sophia’s Amboy road for happy hour. There were no seats left at the bar so we decided to sit at a table and start with drinks for happy hour. We ordered two Margaritas and the server came back with our check stating it is full price for drinks since we are not sitting at the bar. Now we asked her to speak to the manager regarding this discrimination and besides we are seniors. He said this is the rule! We are somewhat regular customers and this has never happened before. Can anybody please explain since happy hour was still going on and no seats at the bar why we would be charged double for our drinks? Now we were truly disgusted by this treatment but decided to have one more drink and lost our appetite - then the server said happy hour has ended so I will charge you full price. At that point we did not order food as we expected to eat there and just went on to a diner. Treating customers like this cannot be good for business - I wonder if your staff should be retrained on how to respect people and not make up their own rules and discriminate against seniors. Why would we ever go to Chipotle when we have Sofia's Guac Bar?!?!

Our first visit to this location. The venue is clean, brightly lit, colorfully decorated, and adequately staffed. The food was very good, seasoned well, and cooked perfectly. I had the combo fajita platter (steak, chicken, and shrimp), and it was delicious. It was a mountain of goodness that was actually enough food for two people.

I've read a couple of reviews complaining about the prices here... I'll just say this, you get what you pay for! The food chain I mentioned at the beginning of my review puts so much salt in their food that every single menu item has more than 100% of the RDA for sodium! Every menu item! Pay a little extra, taste real food and live longer, eat at Sofia's Guac Bar. ☺️
