Soldier’s Buffet — Restaurant in New York

I purchased ackee and saltfish this am at Soldier's Rutland Road; It was bad smh. I purchased there before and it wasn't good either, but I thought I would give them a pass, it would be better next time. As a Jamaican I feel that one can't really go wrong with certain dishes and ackee and saltfish is one of them. There was no seasoning. I am assuming the person who cooked might not be Jamaican, because there was no pepper either. I understand that some people do not appreciate pepper, but for some dishes it is a must, even to taste. The ackee and saltfish was rank so it needed hot pepper or a bit of lemon to counteract the taste as well as seasoning because there was none. I hate to write a negative post, but I am hoping it will prompt them...

It's been over 10years since I started getting dinners at this place. The quality of the food items are mediocre, at best. I recently began returning for quick low priced meals and have noticed that the rice, both with peas and white tends to be undercooked. I've been crunching on half cooked grains, this is indigestible and careless of them. The taste of the food lacks adequate amount of salt (granted not everyone likes just enough or too much). Jerk pork and stew pork tastes bland. It's cheaper and a quick meal for an 8hr shift but, don't expect much more. I guess you get what you pay for...
