Spice 52 — Restaurant in New York

The only reason I’m giving Spice 52 two stars is because the food was okay. Not great, not amazing — just okay. But everything else about this place? An absolute disaster.

I came in for a small takeout order expecting a quick pickup. The restaurant was practically empty — only two tables were occupied out of maybe six or eight. There were four people in the kitchen, and only two or three orders going on at the time. And yet, I ended up waiting over 30 minutes for a single basic takeout item. That’s not just slow — it’s ridiculous.

But the wait was just the beginning. The takeout setup is sloppy, confusing, and frustrating. No one at the front seems to know what’s going on. No updates, no communication, just vibes. I stood there watching staff wander around, glance over, and then ignore me like I was invisible.

And then comes the worst part: customer service. I’ve never experienced staff speak to customers with such arrogance and attitude. No greeting, no apology, no respect. It felt like I was bothering them just by existing. I’ve been to plenty of restaurants — busy ones, slow ones, family-run, corporate — and I have never seen employees speak to paying customers the way they do here. Not even in places with half the reputation.

This place could be something, but it’s run like no one cares — not about the customers, not about the experience, not even about common decency. If you’re thinking of picking up takeout from here, don’t. Unless you enjoy long waits, cold stares, and the feeling that your presence is a problem.

Also, just a note — fried rice doesn’t mean plain white rice dyed brown with soy sauce. That’s not how it works.

What an experience Came for a night out with friends and left disgusted

For starters- the food was GROSS like really really bad, we literally left entire trays of food on the table

Second- they are so way overpriced its scary, 6 mini nuggets, like bite size pieces, for $14?!! How is that even justifiable?! At least when i order nuggets- they should be full size juicy pieces! Not tiny little fingernails that you pop into your mouth and are done! Oh and please, when you charge $14 for nuggets- please include as many sauces as i want! dont charge me extra for sauce!

Now lastly- um are you a fast food place, why the heck dont you have napkins on the table?!?!?!???!?! like we needed to keep going up to the counter to ask for NAPKINS!! And not only that- the server asked "how many do you need"!!!!! LOL I need an entire pack!!!!!! additionally, it would only make sense to have paper towel at the sink for when you wash your hands, no? Well in this store- nope you got to ask the front cashier for that! you walk with dripping hands all the way to the other end of the store.. if you havent wiped them into your shirt yet lolll

Gosh why are takeouts like that? don’t you want repeat customers? well i guess not since i wont be...

I walked in wanting to order lunch there.... yea, never walking in there again. I finally decided what I wanted to order but there was no one at the cashier to give my order to. One of the workers that worked in the kitchen saw that I was waiting to order, and all he did was look at me and walk away into the kitchen. That worker that walked away from me back into the kitchen... disgusting. I caught him eating fries straight out of the fryer, and with no gloves on! and he saw me staring at him in disgust and he didn't stop, he just didn't freakin care! Ew I saw the Chinese chef opening up some frozen noodles with his bare hands.. no gloves!

I immidietly walked out of the deli, never to return again. But before I walked away I was curious to know what food grade they got from the health/food inspection. So I checked the window of the store and guess what? THEY HAD NO GRADE! No...
