EDIT: I received a kind and understanding response from Starbucks customer service. Posted below.
I went in to this store to escape the pouring rain and answer some emails, not intending to buy anything. A homeless man came in and got in line and bought a medium coffee. He didn’t take a seat after and stayed out of everyone’s way. About 5 minutes later, an employee came up to him and asked him to leave. He asked why and she said because of “your odor.” Now I was sitting next to this interaction and had walked by the guy several times and didn’t smell him. I live in NYC, I know smelly people when I smell them.
I was so bothered by this that I asked to see the manager. I told her I was concerned and felt this was unnecessary. Starbucks doesn’t owe anybody anything, and I believe they have the right to ask disruptive customers to leave, but I do not believe this was warranted for an unfortunate paying customer waiting out the rain.
She was very rude to me, interrupted me from my very first sentence and lied about people complaining about the man. She said she made the call, which means she cowardly had asked an employee to do it for her. There was nothing she could do to fix it, but I was hopeful she would say she was sorry for making me feel uncomfortable and show some contemplation of the situation. Instead, she raised her voice defensively and told me she didn’t “have to take this.” Admittedly, as she ran behind the counter from me, I yelled at her that she should consider the meaning of compassion and that she sucks at being a store manager. I hope my words rattle around in her head for a while.
I’ll never go to that store again and even though I probably spend $40-60 or so a week At Starbucks using the app, I’m considering not going back to Starbucks unless I want to take advantage of their free bathroom policy.
We’re all better than this and small acts of...
Read moreThe girl lied to my face, and intently served me the wrong drink.
I ordered a blonde roast coffee and she took it upon herself to offer a pour over or Americano since they only pike place ready. So with her offer I picked the pour over option to which she said she'd be a 3-4min wait, so I thanked her left and came back. I got back after 5 min to see she hadn't even started my drink. I didn't rush her or say anything just simply waited. After about 2 min she realized I was there and immediately rushed to serve me a drink. I watched her grab the cup, fill it with the readily available pike place, and rush it over to and say it was the blonde roast I ordered. When I tried to ask her if it was actually a blonde she just walked away and pretended to not hear me.
I chose not to make it a scene and just left, but needed to point out that this person chose to intentionally lie to a customer and intentionally serve a customer a drink they...
