I cannot say enough good things about this place. The restaurant itself is absolutely gorgeous, offering outdoor seating on both sides of it. The outdoor seating offers two experiences (one on a quiet Neighborhood street, and the other on a bustling New York City street). The staff are some of the best around. The hostess was incredibly friendly when we arrived and offered us a variety of seating options. Our waitress was so friendly and fun, and knowledgeable as well. She made incredible suggestions especially in regards to the wine. The owner even came up to us and greeted us and would loo by to have conversations with us. It really had a friendly/you’re family, atmosphere/feel to it. The food…I don’t have the words to describe how good it was. We started with the ricotta crostini. The sweetness of the honey with the tang of the ricotta cheese balanced out by the saltiness of the hazelnuts makes for a trip your tastebuds will be sure To thank you for. Next up fro me was the Bolognese fettuccini. This was a life changing experience. I’ve never had such a good tasting bolognese. The pasta is made in house and taste like it in the best way. You really taste the love and care put into it. My wife had the shrimp scampi pasta, and all the flavors (the shrimp, garlic, olive oil, white wine, lemon) they were all balance and came together in a perfect ballet to really send your taste buds a flutter. Midway through the owner surprised us with the truffle deviled eggs. You have not lived until you have tried these!!!! I think they use digorno mustard in them, and for sure garlic and it really is a spiritual experience. Between the phenomenal food, exceptional service, and perfect atmosphere, this place checked all the boxes for us. It’s hard to rave about it and share it with others because we don’t want it to get too popular, but at the same time, to miss this place would be a crime against the world. It’s too good to pass off on. We will be back, and often. (Looking forward to their brunch later this week in fact!!) so make sure the next time you are in the village to stop in for a drink, a deviled egg, or bell for a whole meal. In fact, even if you aren’t here in the village, make a special trip down here. I promise you won’t regret it!! Thank you to all the amazing people who made our experience so memorable!! You guys...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Suprema Provisions on Bleeker Street in New York City. I was excited to try their juicy burger and side dishes of brussel sprouts, pomodoro and braised Spanish octopus.
The burger was cooked to perfection, with just the right amount of seasoning. The burger was served on a soft, freshly baked bun that complemented the meat perfectly. The burger was topped with caramelized onions, smoked cheddar cheese, and a special sauce that added a tangy and sweet flavor to the burger.
The brussel sprouts was the perfect accompaniment to the burger, and the portion size was just right. They were crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. They were seasoned with just the right amount of salt and pepper, and the addition of garlic and lemon gave them a tangy and savory flavor that was simply delicious.
The pomodoro was another standout dish. The dish consisted of a rich and savory tomato sauce that was perfectly seasoned with garlic, onions, and fresh herbs. The sauce was served over perfectly cooked spaghetti, which was al dente and had a nice bite to it. The dish was garnished with freshly grated Parmesan cheese, which added a nutty and salty flavor to the dish.
The braised Spanish octopus was another standout dish. The octopus was perfectly cooked, and the olive purée added a tangy and savory flavor to the dish. The roasted tomato and squid ink polenta were the perfect accompaniments to the dish, adding a depth of flavor and texture that was simply delicious.
Overall, my dining experience at Suprema Provisions was outstanding. The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and the ambiance was perfect. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who is looking for a great meal in...
Read moreThis experience was anything but suprema!
We visited with four yesterday. Two of us ordered the octopus which arrived cold - not lukewarm but 'took it out from the fridge' cold. After sending the dish back they brought it back exactly as cold as before. After sending the plates back for the second time, they probably threw it in the microwave as the whole plate was piping hot. In the meantime 30 mins passed by and the other two already finished their (overpriced but tasty) dishes.
We 'generously' got offered one dessert for the four of us ($9 on our $210 bill!!). We decided to be decent and leave a $22 tip, which given the circumstances was way more generous than them.
At this point a different waiter showed up explaining how tipping works in the US (thank you, we live here!) and that 10% tip is way too low. We told him what happened, for which he responded the tip goes to the waiter so we shouldn't punish him for bad food. We told him we would have left a higher tip if they gave us the cold food for free, but now we ended up paying $45 for those.
He came back once more to tell us it was not OK to leave so low tip. When asking for his manager, he said 'he was behind the bar, too drunk to come over'. Telling us once again how uncool the 10% tip was but he hopes we'll be back. Rest assured, we'll never set foot in this place again!
