We are a huge fan of Sichuan food. Having tried quite a few Sichuan restaurants in and around midtown Manhattan as well as in Chinatown, “The Best Sichuan” turns out to be our current favorite considering all aspects – quality of food, service, ambience and location. Located at a convenient spot near Bryant Park on 39th Street West, within a 15-minute walking distance from the Penn Station, the restaurant serves super tasty, spicy Sichuan cuisine. The pork dumplings in chili oil were a great start to the meal. Then the double cooked pork, dry pepper shrimp (dry stir fried with dry chili pepper, green chili pepper and peppercorn), hot sauce fish (braised in hot and spicy sauce, served with bean sprout, napa cabbage, celery and leek), cumin lamb (stir fried with ground spicy cumin, served with bell pepper, onion and cilantro), and finally the pea leaves with garlic – every dish packed a punch that titillated our taste buds before hitting us with a big, bold, flavor. The service was impeccable – the service provided by our server Yvonne was prompt, pleasing, impeccable, cordial and caring to the extent that she hinted that we might be going overboard with our order, and suggested that we wait before ordering the Lo Mein. She was absolutely right – we had to box almost half of the food we had ordered. But we did not regret it - they were so good that we had a grand feast the next day with the leftovers. All the other servers were also caring and attentive, ensuring that we never ran out of water.
We will certainly go back to the Best Sichuan very soon. It is indeed “The Best” when it comes to Sichuan...

(Previous Original Review) Being here for years! But I was taking care of by the lovely young female manager. Tonight, it made my last night to never ever coming back with the blown face As.-. female bossy back again. During pre pandemic the place was super busy. Later, I met the new super caring beautiful female young manager! Tonight, my order was totally wrong. I was with the boss (owner) she was nice and not helpful. Her order to the kitchen went Berserk!! I have multiple allergies and I will have at least for a week of stomach ache for at least 8 hours per days! Their cheff or sous cheff cannot read none Chinese nor or less English! I never had this issues due to Ms. Beautiful young manager and her crew were on, she is always attentive and on point!! The receipt stated what it should not be in it? @@ Red highlighted was the (owner) she never hear me or hear me wrongly and misplaced the order of ingredients! I must fished out the allergies ingredients from the order. If you have food allergies! I highly suggest you to...
Read moreI was there a few weeks ago, the food was so good (and more inviting than other restaurants) that we came three days in a row. The first night we were welcomed and without waiting we were accommodated, but only one evening (it was Saturday, and later than the other evenings) we waited 2 minutes. The food was all delicious, I recommend the rice noodles (I recommend the house specialty, I had them every time I came), the centenary egg, the duck and in general everything was good (I don't remember the names of the dishes I ordered). The portions were generous. The waiters were very kind (especially the waitress with the tattooed arm, but the others were also very good). Coming to the bill, I think it is proportional to New York prices and the dishes.Moving on to aesthetics, it is a nice restaurant with a bar area. I'm sorry that the waitress hoped we would come back the next evening, but unfortunately we had a flight 😭. I've tried many Chinese restaurants, but this is the best I've been to, and the strong Asian presence, both among customers and staff, confirms its authenticity (I don't want to be racist and offensive in any way). If I go back to NYC, this will be the first place I go to eat. Greetings from Italy to all the staff who had become part...
