This review is based on two adults staying in the Archer King Empire View Guest Room. Pros: -Exceptional location- we walked (10-20 min) almost everywhere. There are tons of great places to eat nearby the hotel. There are also convenient entrances to the subway within a 2-3 minute walk. -Amazing view of the Empire State Building -Very comfortable bed and pillows -Very clean -Safe luggage storage before checking in so that we could go explore New York -Fun slippers -Decent toiletries -Bathroom was well-lit, spacious, and had a nice open countertop with a makeup mirror provided Cons: -The room is laughably small. It would be better with only 1 person. It was hilarious trying to shuffle around each other in the tiny aisles around the bed. And before thinking “that’s all hotels in NYC,” know that it is not. We’ve stayed in two others in a similar price range that were much more spacious and comfortable for two people. -The walls are paper thin. We could hear EVERYTHING in the halls and neighboring rooms. When the neighboring room opened their door we actually thought someone had come into ours it was so crystal clear. Also we were awakened each morning by the loud opening and closing of doors/cleaning crew. The amount of noise we could hear through the wall/closed door felt as if we had no door at all. -The heating system was very odd. It was very difficult to maintain a comfortable temperature in the room. Sometimes it would get stifling hot and then the next half hour the room would be freezing and cold air would be blasting out of the vent. -That “complimentary late/noon check out” that is listed on the website is a lie. When we attempted to request it, they stated that we could only stay until 11:15 (15 minutes after the normal check out). -Bell hop who stored our luggage did not offer to take them up to the room -This is an odd one- but there was only one extremely small garbage can that was in the bathroom. We ended up using a garbage bag that we brought from home as our garbage can since there was literally no room in the tiny garbage can they provided. I was on the fence between a rating of 3/4 out of 5. All in all, I would still recommend this room at the Archer. It was, for the most part, comfortable, and most importantly, clean and well located. And… that view! 😍

Horrible HORRIBLE, hotel. Do NOT stay here. (Also, not sure why Google suddenly switched this from 3.7 to 4.5 when I switched accounts to write this. SCAMS).

The staff attitude will make you wish you never came. It might be ok if you're in and out for two days. But anything longer? AWFUL service.

FOR ONE, the wifi in my room didn't work. I was here for multiple days & for work, so I needed wifi. Tell me, would you book a 4 or 3.7 star hotel expecting yourself to not even be able to send an email? Why was I paying 300 a night for my work to be so disrupted? Phone in room didn't work, so I had to go downstairs to let the front desk know. They sent in a junior level engineer and he was so grumpy. Not a smile, not an apology, and just defensiveness: "nobody else has this problem." Well okay, but I do. And I have a macbook pro & iphone 13. Why give me attitude?

FIVE DAYS LATER my work is still completely disrupted. Basically cannot rely on the wifi to do anything, much less do a video call. I go down to the front desk and let them know again (bear in mind I'm paying for a supposedly 4 star hotel for all the days in between and literally losing income). They send the head engineer responsible for 3 hotels into my room, and you'd think he was more polite than the junior engineer, but nope. Interrupted me at almost every sentence. I even suggest that if I were to need to move a room, I'd be ok with that. But he grumbles "nobody else has this problem," again, wholly making the customer wrong. He tinkers around a bit, & the laptop after that has been able to use wifi. But. This is on the 6th day.

And. Wifi on phone is still inconsistent. So as a Canadian I'm paying for int'l data charges every night while here, bc god forbid I reach out to them again.

SECONDLY, the cleaning staff. LOUD CHATTER with each other at 830am on a Saturday morning (May 4 to be exact). Why???? Why does the manager allow this? Why do the staff think this behavior normal? Yes, tourists might be up and out before 830am & be unaffected, but this is New York, and people wanting to stay here for work and wanting to maybe sleep in should be MORE THAN GRANTED THAT RIGHT. Especially in a so called fake 3-4 start hotel. But you'd be better off in a 2 star motel, honestly.

THIRD, the carelessness w the cleaning. I'm compassionate with cleaning staff, anyone doing menial work, but the carelessness across so many days is extremely hard to ignore. For ex, she dropped my apple keyboard (it must have fell out of my laptop bag when she was cleaning). Places it on my desk but squashes + bends the paper underneath it! So she could not place it flat.. she had to place it on top of now BENT paper??

They don't give you glass glasses in the bathroom - they give 2 one-time use paper cups (thin ones). SINCE THESE ARE TO REPLACE THE GLASS CUPS... why do they miss replacing them half the time? It's literally the hotel's culture to not provide glass.. so why do you sometimes give me the paper cups, and sometimes not? Especially when the old ones are clearly thrown out in their mini garbages. I'm not trying to sound nit picky, but it's like.. It's not a comb, or 3rd towel, i.e. some nonstandard things. Why be SO inconsistent on something your guests probably consistently do - brush their teeth?

FOURTH, like I said, my phone in my room doesn't work. I've told them 4 times. And they just listen and stare at me blankly. No plan to fix it? What. the. heck? The phone didn't work when I was at the Marriott and the engineer was sent in the same day to fix it. WHY do MULTIPLE STAFF here allow the phone to not work KEEP going unnoticed?

FIFTH, I nicely stated to front staff that if they saw the uber eats guy standing there, to leave it with them so he doesn't have to call me. ALEX on May 4 was so defensive, & said "it's his job, so why are you blaming me?" What? Why so emotionally unregulated? Why so defensive? That is literally the REPEATED pattern of the staff.

Location is 4 stars. But CONSISTENTLY poorly trained staff make this a ONE START HOTEL.

BOOK ANYWHERE...

After a thorough research between similar Hotels, we decided to stay at Archer Hotel due to its location, the reviews of other guests and the overall characteristics that we expect to have during a long stay. But what made us choose Archer among others was the kind, quick and honest answers to all the questions I made by mail, given by Mr. Haresh. Our priorities while staying at a hotel are always the same: super comfortable bed, quiet room, nice hot water in bathroom, and above all: cleanliness. Mr. Haresh assured we would have all we needed, and so it was. When we arrived, Mr. Ousmane received us and helped us with our luggage, and during our whole stay also gave us many tips and advice about where to go. Then at the Reception, Ms. Diana welcomed us with great kindness and explained in detail all we needed to know about the Hotel facilities and amenities to make our stay extremely comfortable. As I said, we met Diana and Ousmane, and we also met Mr. Haresh, who was even kinder than he had been by mail, Ms. Erika, Mr. Brian, Ms. Tracie, and Mr. Rick ( I'm sure I forget some names) but everybody at the Front Desk was incredibly helpful, polite and always greeted us with a smile and nice words. |As regards the AKB, Ms. Natalia and Mr. Imam where not only super attentive but also eager to help us with tips and suggestions to enjoy our days. At the Spyglass Rooftop, Ms. Ana, Ms. Laura and Ms. Heather also made one of our nights super special, with their cocktails and shareable bites recommendations.|The Hotel is very well located, and is extremely beautiful; the room is super cozy, clean and comfortable ( includes complimentary Nespresso coffee, daily treats, a nice bathroom with great shower and amenities, and complimentary fast wifi) as well as quiet at night to ensure a really good rest in its king bed. We had everything needed without having to request even once ( coffee, towels, toilet paper and Lather amenities were replaced daily, as well as the room was cleaned and arranged daily too). |We are really thankful for the treatment received by each and everyone at the hotel, many of whom we met, and many who work without being in contact with guests but help to provide us such a good experience during our stay ( such as housekeepers, maintenance staff, kitchen staff, chefs, etc).|It's been a great pleasure staying at Archer Hotel, next time in New York City we will choose you again for sure.|Please keep employing great personnel as you have, and send our regards to everyone we mentioned, they really made a great experience in our stay.|We are convinced that people make the difference, even the most gorgeous building may become uncomfortable if staff does not provide kindess and don't like the work they do.|Thank you again for making us feel special.||PS1: Please keep the Hotel as new always, it also makes...
