I've eaten at this place several times in the last 3-4 years. I've gone there with parties of 15-20 people, as well as just me and 1 other person. Their service is great, waiters are respectful, detail oriented, and servicing.
However, today I had one of the worst experiences ever with Turkish Grill. I made an order for a pick up (7 platters -- $131.00 - which were delicious by the way). When I called to make the order, I told them that I will need extra white sauce, they said that's fine it's not a problem. While I was there to pick up the food, I told the lady behind the counter that I will need extra white sauce with this order. She said that's fine it's not a problem. When I got home and opened up the bags with my food, there were only 2 small (not even 2 ounces each) containers. These containers were the size of the white paper containers you can pour ketchup in when your at Mc Donalds.
I called Turkish Grill, informed them of the situation. The lady who picked up the phone (Sevvy or Selvy) informed me that I should have told her that I needed Jekkuk (or something like that), and not white sauce. I told her that I don't speak Turkish, and that I always call it white sauce, and that I'm sure there are a lot of customers who don't know the exact word for the white sauce in her language. She again said to me, "well then you won't get it, unless you order it like that".
I then asked her if I can speak to her supervisor (his name is Ismael), she said "he's not here right now, but even if you speak to him watch him say the same thing."
I'm disappointed. Not only did we not get the proper amount of white sauce which is needed for 7 platters, but we also were informed that if you don't know how to speak the Turkish language then you may not get everything you need at this restaurant.
NEVER going back again.
You guys just lost a very loyal customer, and all of my family members who were loyal...
Read moreCame on a Friday night. Not crazy busy but an extremely small & cramped restaurant. We were seated by the window at a small table for two. It was very dark there & we asked the server if the lamp above our table could be turned on. He tried & it didn't work so we ate in darkness because there was no other table to move to. Our waiter was not good. He was clueless about everything & his constant response to whatever we asked was, "Let me check." I ordered a rose wine from their menu. The waiter, again, had no idea whether they had it, so he told me, "If we don't have it, I'll bring you this red wine." Um, I don't even like red wine. How are you just telling me what you'll bring instead?? I had to tell him to bring me a sweet white wine, which is closer to a rose, instead. We were given some hard, not warm bread and a tiny cup of olive oil, not even a little hummus (they charge for that). Our fried calamari appetizer came out quickly. It was fresh & hot, but too much breading on the calamari so you mainly tasted the breading & not the calamari itself and it was overfried. We ordered lamb & chicken adana kebabs. It took a while after appetizer for us to get our dinner. When our plates were served, the kebabs are so small they were completely hidden by the pita & we didn't even see where was our meat! Two small, thin kebabs each with rice, salad & pita. The kebabs were dry & they didn't serve them with any sauces until we asked. To top everything off, there was a table of 6 young people behind us, who were obviously tipsy & were making a lot of noise & were disturbing to the other diners (remember very small place). Not one server or manager even bothered to ask them to keep it down or be respectful. Honestly, not the quiet, pleasant, tasty meal my husband & I had planned for our Friday date night out. Will not...
Read moreIf I can give Turkish grill a 10 star rating I would! There are not enough things I can say about this restaurant. We've been coming to this establishment for almost 20 years and I can tell you its the same exact wonderous experience every single time. It is family owned and has been and with such a background the only service you'll get from them is the best. Super nice staff always remember what we want to order without our having to look at a menu. Nicely located on queens boulevard in Sunnyside. And as of these days given our trying times, I Can genuinely and seriously inform you that they have taken every measure for safe dining within their premises or in there really nice outdoor seating. The food is beyond delicious and the portions spectacular and even with all of that their prices are very very reasonable especially when you could compare them to other restaurants in and around the city. The vegetarian and non vegetarian options are abundant. I can honestly recommend a great many of their foods including their kababs, their grill meats, their rice, their shepherd salad, and their bread is to die for. And not to forget their appetizers such as their tabuli, hummus and piaz( I hope I spelled those correctly!!) My personal favorite is their lamb chops over rice and salad! I tell you you will not find a more delicious chop anywhere in the city! --And believe me, I've had quite a few in other places. We moved out of Sunnyside after 20 years only a couple years ago after having bought a house not too far away but we absolutely never fail in returning here on a weekly basis. We have looked and can honestly testify to saying that one can find no better Turkish food with their mediterranean cuisine, anywhere so far. Not even Brooklyn! Oh, and if anybody is intrested, they are...
