This place is great! Such a good addition to the sunset park Chinatown food scene. A little hard to find because it's not on the main 8th Avenue drag. It's up the block on 57th street, on the 2nd floor. They have a huge well lit awning though so just look up! Found this place by accident back in December when I had a craving for Japanese. My family and I got a few bento boxes to try and we've been back multiple times ever since. We've had the salmon teriyaki bento, shrimp teriyaki bento, shrimp tempura bento, chicken teriyaki bento and my personal favorite, the age tofu bento. All bento boxes come with Taiwanese style popcorn chicken, rice, a California roll and miso soup. I've also tried their take on an okonomiyaki, which they call the To Date pancake. It's very tasty and comparable to the ones you find in the city. Their takoyaki isn't great. But I guess, you can't win them all. I always call my order in advance for pickup. It is usually ready within 20 minutes of calling. The guy who answers the phone is super nice and professional. I highly recommend this place to anyone who wants good quality and delicious Japanese food...
Read moreSTAY AWAY!! FOOD POISONING!! Terrible spot. I was in the neighborhood to do some shopping, got hungry and decided to go there with my sister. They serve spoilt sushi and sashimi to the customers, in hopes to mask it in spicy sauces. I got food poisoning which resulted in 4 trips to the bathroom and 2 days of inability to eat anything except for bread and bananas. The staff is extremely dismissing, they laughed at my request to connect me with either owner or the manager, nobody out of those who I spoke to showed any concern about what happened, gaslighting me about them thinking that it’s not restaurants fault. It was the only food I ate that day. Before, during, and after. How about your C sanitation rating? Claims of other customers seeing mice? They defined premake a lot of their stuff, sushi came out way too fast, and we didn’t hear much work in the kitchen as it was being put together. Did they leave crab meat out too long? Or fish? If I saw it before entering, which no wonder you hide it, as there nothing to be worthy to be showcased, I wouldn’t have chosen To Date Sushi...
Read moreThese guys are terrible and rude. The owner normally lets me buy my $10 or $15 sushi order with my debit card. Recently, he has gotten their server who handles their to-go orders to tell me that there is now a minimum, and it is cash only. This is after I have been buying the same sushi order for the last 4 months about 1-2 times per week with my debit card.
Last time I went, he told me that it was a $15 dollar minimum, and this time that I just now went today, he told me that it was a $10 minimum, when my order was $9.50. When I told him that I had no cash, he told me then that he didn't know how to explain in English (after he's been speaking English with me for months), and that next time it is going to be a $20 minimum. Seriously?
Terrible service from both the server and the owner, and very impolite. This is the United States of America- if you want to run a successful restaurant business, YOU THE RESTAURANT should pay the card fee, not...
