Tropical Kitchen — Restaurant in New York

Ordered on “Too Good To Go” app. The value of the “meal” was supposed to be $18 for a “medium” size order. The photos shown are NOT what you receive.

This was a house, which was unexpected. I should have looked up the address (and not just how many stars the business had) beforehand, so THAT’S on me.

It seemed as though he was microwaving the food while we waited for our order. Which was confirmed when I got home and opened the container; the food seemed old.

There’s NO WAY the food I received was worth $18; nor was it a “medium” size. The container was barely half full:

It had probably 1 serving spoon worth of rice, 1 serving spoon worth of mashed potatoes with a weird tasting gravy, 1 piece of turkey bacon (?!.. since when is mashed potatoes & Turkey Bacon part of Caribbean food?!), dry sweet potato & regular potato wedges, 1 (ONE?!) chicken wing “flat”.. Keep in mind, with all of these things (that don’t go together) it was still in a half empty container..

It was extremely upsetting to receive 1 piece of Turkey Bacon & 1 chicken wing flat as the protein for the meal.

I wanted to be supportive & open-minded but what I was served was truly insulting. It seems as though random leftovers were grabbed & warmed up, then thrown in...

This is a great and professional business with great choice of food ranging from chicken, pork, beef, goat, turkey and any other meat that you can think of. He even makes 100% vegan dishes that are very tasty. I've know him for a very long time and as the years go on he gets even better as a chef. Anything you can think of, he can make with no issues.

Cooking runs throughout his entire family. This guy was born to cook! If I were rich I'd hire him as my personal chef with no hesitation. If you're hungry and want something nutritious and healthy for your body then go to this guy.

It doesn't matter what time of the day it is, he'll find a way to make your day special and you'll be satisfied every single time. I've never had a meal from him that I didn't like. About 8 years ago he made me some spicy liver and I've never been a fan of liver but when he made it, this was something that I'd eat all the time if he makes it. The owner being combative under his Google reviews says a lot. He mentioned some customers utilizing “a waste app” as if that’s an excuse to feed people garbage. Good to go is not “a waste app” the food you are giving is not free. Customers still have to pay for food, it being at a discounted price is the point of the app. It’s beneficial to you In Some way because yo chose to do service with them. Don’t disrespect people due to your lack of empathy. It’s unsafe to feed people old food, and it’s disrespectful to downplay your service based off the app that is used to PURCHASE your food.
