Re: brunch Veranda has quickly become one of our favorite local spots. It's truly a hidden gem, as we've never seen it packed during Sunday brunch. We hope it stays that way, given the trend of Asian restaurants taking over closed businesses in the area.
While the brunch menu isn't extensive, the quality is top-notch. Every dish we've tried has been consistently delicious. The frittata is a standout, and the lemon ricotta pancakes are simply divine. Even the bacon was cooked to perfection, crispy and not greasy at all.
The service is equally impressive. The white tablecloths and uniformed servers create a refined atmosphere, and the attentive staff ensures that your coffee and water are always full. No need to flag them down! Did I mention, inexpensive as well? You can’t go wrong.
Overall, Veranda offers a delightful brunch experience that's worth seeking out.
A small suggestion for improvement: It might be helpful to tone down the strong perfume worn by some of the staff, as it can be bothersome for sensitive customers.
Update- Brought my son who is visiting for the weekend. There's a big party going on and yet stellar service remained. They even accommodated us when they saw my husband and son were watching football on their phones. They moved us to a table closer to the television and changed the chancel to the game we were watching. Yes, in spite of a big party going on, they paid attention to us. We were very happy with the service and always felt the VIP treatment. Of course, we always take advantage of their Fix Pre Menu again . The soup for the day includes pumpkin soup which imo was delicious. My husband had the chicken soup and he said a bit on the salty side otherwise it was good. So request less salt if you are considering to order the chicken soup.
Previous review- What not to like? Great atmosphere, clean, good food and excellent service. We met with friends and requested for an outdoor seating . It was perfect.... we did the fix pre and was the perfect decision. A lot of selections to choose from. Grilled or pan seared branzinos with fresh grilled vegetables were amazing. Same with their tuna piccata pasta. The recommended red wine was very good too. I love the virgin passion fruit mojito. Gregory , our server was awesome. Everyone ordered the baklava for their dessert and I opted for the Greek yogurt mousse ... which was delicious. It wasn't sour at all . So highly recommended. Great experience. If you will order the Greek coffee, it wasn't the same as my friends expected. They said it was weak for their taste . I am not a Greek coffee connoisseur so I can't speak for them.
This was my second time at Veranda. I enjoyed their weekend brunch and decided to come back for dinner. I wasn't...
Read moreAs a Korean native with a discerning palate for seafood and Mediterranean cuisine, I was thrilled to discover Veranda, an upscale Greek and Italian restaurant nestled in the heart of Bayside, NY. From the moment I stepped through the doors, I was captivated by the restaurant's cozy and inviting ambiance, with its elegant décor and warm lighting. The ambiance perfectly complemented the restaurant's culinary excellence, creating a truly memorable dining experience. My culinary adventure began with the Greek bronzini, a dish that showcased the restaurant's mastery of seafood preparation. The perfectly grilled bronzini was cooked to a delicate flakiness, its flavors enhanced by a zesty lemon-caper sauce and a bed of roasted vegetables. The dish was a symphony of flavors, with each bite revealing a harmonious blend of sweet, savory, and tangy notes. Next, I ventured into the realm of Italian cuisine, indulging in the restaurant's signature seafood pasta. The pasta was cooked al dente, its texture perfectly complemented by the tender, succulent seafood medley. The sauce, a rich and creamy concoction of garlic, white wine, and herbs, coated the pasta and seafood in a symphony of flavors, leaving me wanting more. To round out my culinary journey, I savored the thick calamari, a dish that showcased the restaurant's commitment to using fresh, high-quality ingredients. The calamari was lightly breaded and fried to a golden perfection, its crispy exterior giving way to tender, melt-in-your-mouth morsels. The dish was served with a tangy lemon-caper sauce that perfectly complemented the calamari's delicate flavors. Throughout my dining experience, I was consistently impressed by the attentiveness and friendliness of the staff. The servers were knowledgeable about the menu and eager to assist with recommendations, making me feel welcome and valued. Their genuine hospitality further enhanced the overall dining experience. Veranda is more than just a restaurant; it's a culinary oasis where exquisite flavors and impeccable service converge to create an unforgettable dining experience. Whether you're seeking a romantic evening, a memorable gathering with friends, or a family celebration, Veranda is the perfect destination. Read moreAt the recommendation of my son who ate at this place a few times before, nine of us went to this restaurant for the brunch on Palm Sunday. I don't like to bad mouth people but I have to vent out my anger this time. The service was terrible and the food was mediocre. We got there at 1:30 with the reservation and were promptly seated. The waiter came and took our drinks and served us. Everything was fine. Then the service went down hill. He disappeared for more than 30 minutes and we had to ask another waiter to go look for him to take our orders. He came out of the kitchen and proceeded to chat with another waiter. He then went to serve another table, all the while ignoring us like we don't exist. An hour had gone by after we placed our orders, no food. While we patiently waited for our food, we observed another waiter sloppily spilled drinks all over the customers sitting a few feet from us. Another waiter squeezed behind my wife's chair hazardously holding up a chair right over her head to get to another table; he could have easily walked around instead of taking the shortcut. The Manager later came to apologize to us that the kitchen was all backed up. We begged the manager to bring out my granddaughters' food because they were starving having waited for over hour already. When our orders finally came, the omelettes were over cooked; the shoestring fries were soggy and greasy; the pancake was burned. On our way home my 7 year granddaughter said "I would never go back to that place...
