This place has been around for a while and this is my 2nd time giving it a go and it will definitely be my last. Walked in Sunday evening time (5pm) not greeted or anything by the woman with long dark hair. She watched me stand by the counter as she had a very important convo with the guy making coffee. As another person walked in she finally came over and nodded at me. I said hello, and she rolled her eyes. I know i should’ve left at that point. I asked for a slice of the honey cake. She asked me if i can just buy the entire cake because it was very fresh and made that morning. I said no i cannot buy the entire cake. This is one slice and it was for the kids to share in the car. She kept repeating that the cake was very fresh. I said ok should i come back in a few weeks? Like what does that mean? I asked her if there is a slice available or not. Should i just go? I guess her manger or boss or owner was walking back there (man in tattoos and a dark colored suit.) all of a sudden she realized she can cut the slice of cake at that very moment. I was very shocked. What’s with the customer service at this place ? There is so much competition around. For $10 cake slice, this lady literally deliberated and didn’t want to cut the cake. Weird. Will never come back here. The service...

The service is very nice, when you sit down at the table you always are checked on if you need anything etc. The cakes tend to be not consistent, in a short period of time we were getting the same type of cakes and sometimes it was too sour sometimes it was good. Particularly the coconut passion fruit cake. The mango poppy seeds cake unfortunately wasn’t for me.. I liked it but not the poppy seeds part… felt unpleasant when you eat it. From the menu things like breakfast and sandwiches I can’t say it’s up to speed. Basically, the best thing is an Avo croissant. The banana strawberry chocolate crepes are a joke - just no, you don’t serve a crepes like that for $13 even in Brooklyn. It’s like if you want to be an “upscale” place - be it in everything or remove it from the menu. Overall I can believe that they justify the price of cakes for being in-house made and unique to the location; for food … not really. Even in our neighborhood we have better options price & taste-wise.
I guess people just don’t have much of a choice or experience which makes it a popular spot.
And Coffee and hot drinks in general are good, maybe keep an eye on mixing matcha powder to a smooth consistency so there...
Read moreI recently visited Wilberry Cake in Brooklyn, and I must say it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The ambiance of the bakery is cozy and inviting, with a charming decor that makes you feel right at home.
The highlight, of course, is the cake. I tried their signature chocolate cake, and it was nothing short of divine. The cake was moist and rich, with a perfect balance of sweetness and flavor. The frosting was creamy and smooth, adding the perfect finishing touch to each bite.
