Horrible service. We told them we were waiting for 2 people, total 6 in our party, they still served us the miso soup before the others showed up. When they got there, their soup was could and the server would not take it back for hot soup. My sister ordered Udon Seafood, we all got our rolls and Bento Box, but her noodles never came, when asked where it was, they said they would check, but never came back. So we made it known that we weren't happy. Then, the whole cooking staff, dishwashers, owner and waitresses, had to stand behind the sushi bar and just stare...yet no one still didn't come over to rectify anything.
We were there for 2 hours and never got a refill of hot tea or water or even asked how the food was. We had to talk loudly to get our check...it's like we didn't even exist...well, since that was the case, a tip didn't exist either. My husband was told that my sister's noodles were given to another table. Seriously? No one could come and tell us that?
Now I understand why the restaurant was not crowded on Mother's Day at 6:00 for dinner. Everything has gone downhill here.
This used to be my favorite place to eat, but I will NEVER return, and I suggest, unless you like horrible service and not receiving your food...DO...
Read moreTheir teriyaki is terrible! I literally couldn't eat, fed to my pups. The chicken itself was a little dry but ok, it was their sauce that made it inedible. It didn't taste like any teriyaki sauce I've ever had, it was more like soy sauce. It was not sweet at all and very salty. Also the California roll I had had a distinct vinegar taste. The gyoza were ok but a bit soggy (was a Togo order but only took like 5 minutes away they were soggier than I would have expected). The lucky 7 roll my boyfriend had was ok, not bad but not great either (the only reason for the two stars). It also completely fell apart while trying to eat it so was very messy (which wouldn't matter if it was that delicious but it wasn't). A bunch of reviews talk about the prices being low but I didn't see that (bento box was 15.95 and roll was around 15 too). They're not expensive but not worth what they charge, they are on par with nicer Japanese restaurants. Pier 98 is just across Newark Blvd. prices are similar but much better food and nicer restaurant. One last thing is that their togo boxes are styrofoam so part of one had melted slightly which is never good. Definitely won't be back and don't understand how this place has so many...
Read moreMonday April 11th is the Harumi Sushi & Tofu House Aniversary, my fiancée and I stop by for dinner, we were told by a couple of family members that they were celebrating their aniversary. When we arrived around 6 PM it was almost full however luckily a table was available for us. Everybody seem to know the motive for celebration and we were told by the waitress as she brought the menu that drinks were on the house as their aniversary celebration. We understood right away the reason why everybody's mood to celebrate! Definetly the ambiance was apropiate for adults, but we saw some kids coming with adults smiling. Some laughs and talks were loud however not at all disrespectful to others. I told my fiancée before we leave: I want to do something for the owner and employees, so I stop to every table and asked: 'Would you joing me at the count of 3 to shout' "Happy Aniversary"? and every single table said "Yes" so, We did it: At The Count of ONE, TWO and THREE: "HAPPY ANIVERSARY" we all yelled at one voice at the top of our longs, that was HUGE moment for everybody in there, following that... we left.
It was exciting! Have you ever done something like that? It was...
